Not my cup of tea. The only song that sounds remotely ok is The Beautiful Ones, and that´s only because it´s such a great song that no matter how badly you fuck it up, there´s just so much greatness in it that it still sounds decent. The rest are so so. I like real reggae too much to like this lite, pop reggae collection of songs. The female songs are kind of ok, but nothing spectacular. Not a set of songs I´d pay money for or go back to again. " I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Easy reggae all stars would have done a better job. You need reggae voices to make it work and they did dark side of the moon and it's excellent. Sinead oconnor has no business singing over a reggae track, nor does Beverley knight. Ali Campbell on purple rain is ok and darling Nikki seems to work ok. If the milk turns out to be sour, I aint the kinda pussy to drink it! |

I remember once hearing a reggae version of Thieves In The Temple which was alright. I can't remember who the artist was, though. "Had to get off the boat so I could walk on water..." |

I could see a lot of Prince tunes getting reggae covers, some reggae vocalists have covered a lot of soul and R and B tunes besides pop.
Back in 1980 a reggae artist called Eddie Lovette did credible versions of Sail on by the Commodores and several Johnny Nash songs, just add more reggae beats and dread sounds and you have Prince with reggae. I can see Lets Go Crazy and the first two albums set to reggae easily. Got some kind of love for you, and I don't even know your name | |
