Not my fav Prince album, but a great album nontheless. Love the ecletic feeling of it and the fresh approach to the production. When 2 R in love is a classic song and Anna Stesia is one of my top Prince songs. He was so hoot during this era as well! One of his most original albums! I wish we could get some more of this Prince today...

Great summertime album. Not my fave by the guy but very enjoyable. The title track is the highlight IMO.

Lovesexy pisses over Bad from every direction possible !
It's on an entirely different level - it's men v boys - just completely more sophisticated !

The number of hits or sales an album has does not equate to quality! Bad had so much hype at the time and it had been 5yrs since Thriller so people were whipped up ready to buy MJs new record.

I liked Bad at the time but even back then it was easy to put into perspective compared to Parade, SOTT and Lovesexy - each of those P albums are just so much better, so much more creative and imaginative. It's like comparing Home Alone to Pulp Fiction or to Avatar or the Godfather, to Philadelphia or A Few Good Men !!

Music is, of course, usually subjective - but each of P's albums around Bad just make it sound like a nice commercial, pop record - AND nothing wrong in that so well done MJ - good effort ! But I'd rather experience something that challenges my mind and ears yet is still fun n funky - something that feels post pubic !

I can't listen to an MJ album all the way through now - in fact barely more than an odd song here or there. Whilst the songs are familiar (and previously liked or even loved) they now just sound so dated and so tinny ! Whereas aside from mastering issues, songs like 1999, Controversy, WDC, SOTT etc etc just still sound so fresh and hit you in the face !

Sorry but If anyone who has truly listened to both albums thinks Bad is better music than Lovesexy ... There is something wrong wij yo' big ol' ears ! FACT !

I'm not hatin' on MJ - I like him - he's simply not as good as Prince at anything - except maybe tap-dancing and err...monkey tennis ??

Subjective. Which is fine since this is a Prince fan forum. But honestly, why the need to down Michael? They honestly don't need to be compared. Quite chidlish and I rarely see MJ fans doing that for Prince. Although you might not like his music, you can't take away that he was one of the most influential dancers of the past 60 years or so and he would beat Prince's ass in the dance department. Don't fool yourself. I guess it still irks certain fans, that Prince isn't more known than MJ or sum? IDK... strange tho... U can actually love both...

I'm not downing MJ - as stated, I like him. He was a decent writer, very good singer and excellent dancer. I just find Prince a whole lot better at those plus many other things on top.

Crikey compared to some of the things posted about Prince - on this very site - my comments aren't nasty at all - just intended as a bit of fun.

I never brought MJ into this thread and would far rather discuss Lovesexy which, as I've said, I believe to be a truly superb era for Prince - the whole concept - from album, look, and tour - simply amazing !!

Lovesexy...I love it. There is not one dull moment to be found on that entire album. Possibly my favourite.

Prince has described this album as a "mind trip....like a psychedelic movie",and that's exactly what it feels like.Too many people didn't "get it"...they didn't grasp the message, the vibe, the meaing of it all.

one of my favourite things about Lovesexy was learning to play the saxophone solo from Eye Know on a micro keyed yamaha keyboard. Not a talent that would ever amount to anything, but getting the widdly bits around the F# area was particularly satisfying.
