SOUNDS to my ears like a slightly different mix. Always loved this song. 20Ten was a typical Prince album for me in that I like a few tracks from the beginning, but the majority had to grow on me for a number of years. Loving 90% of it now.

I wish I knew how to capture this track from the twitter stream. My computer skills are lacking tho'

I love this song. It´s an underrated little gem from an album that is not nearly as bad as people think it is. This sounds like it could have been on his second album, just a tad more modern.

Love the simple yet romantic lyrics, the idea of walking in sand with a cute woman, love the melody and the instrumentation.

Can´t really understand why Prince fans dislike this song.

Sticky Like Glue is another good song from that album.

Sure, there are some clunkers on it like Everybody Loves Me, but all in all, despite its flaws, this album does contain some really good songs and this is definitely one of them.

On a quick listen it seems to b absolutely similar 2 the released version, it even segues in2 See Of Everything in the end. Well, technically it's an alternate edit because the original CD track was CUT earlier in the transition in2 SOE but I don't know if this should really count. I know Princevault and Boris say it does, but really I ain't sure I should add it to the discog just because of that

ANYWAYZ anyone who assumes all of princes twitter followers are as familiar with almost every song in his catalog like most of us here is a silly. Its "OLD" to you yet NEW to so many others who are still discovering the music of this ICON til this day.

Oh c'mon, probably thought of it again 4 any particular reason or listened 2 it again and thought "oh, I like this song, it reflects my mood today, it's been released on a limited scale and OOP ever since, let's share it once more with the world!". Nothing too weird about this

Oh, it was just a lighthearted jibe, I was joking, no need to take it so seriously. I don't really care if he wants to put it on his channel, and if it helps other people discover and appreciate the song, which isn't personally to my taste, then that's great. It just seemed rather random to me. It would be nice if he made the stuff from Planet Earth and 20Ten more generally available though, as most people won't have had the chance to hear it.

As for Prince's craziness, I think most people would admit that he's always been a rather enigmatic and bizzare fellow, it certainly wasn't an insult on my part, indeed it's one of the reasons that makes him such a compelling (and occasionally infuriating) guy.

Evertime I hear Walk In Sand, and really the entire 20TEN album in general, it's just a reminder of how Prince has completely given in to every criticism people made about his music in the 80's. Prince has become so stale, boring and predictable that it's really just something I could have never imagined back in the day. When I hear he's doing shows with Niles Rodgers, who I respect, but I think Prince is doing it for the wrong reasons. A lot of musicians look at Niles' disco era hits and are envious of how he has had a career that has lasted a lifetime with feel-good tracks and family friendly lyrics. The thought there is that Niles did it right. Niles' decades-long success is because he played it safe. I think Prince has tried to mold himself into that type of act, and I can't stand it. WHYYY?? Prince made his name by having a POV. He wasn't right-wing, conservative, corporate america, mom's apple pie safe. He understood that all that was lies and phony bs people said in public, but behind closed dooors it was a whole other story. Now he's just as much of a phony bitch as Tipper Gore ever was. "When Doves Cry", "The Beuatiful Ones"... back in the days when Purple Rain just came out and they had Casy Kasem's Top40 countdown or whatever. There was a song that typified why Prince was da shit and some of these other acts were formula sell-outs. We used to crack-up laughing at these cornball mf's:

The 'real music by real musicians' 3EG co-writer, arent-we-so-cute-wtih-our-OneWordTitles songs aren't anything close to the excitement of true Prince music. Everybody, everybody know Prince made his best music singing dirty over synthesizers. He isn't very good at anything else. He isn't Girshwin and shit. Prince needs to just get back to making true Prince music.
