This is such a rather interesting fan site. I never met a group of people, whom call themselves a fan of a public figure/ celebs produce so much sarcasm for their idols ever.
Its so interesting. Some of yall don't give Prince the benefit of to doubt. Some of yall be going hard on that poor guy.
Is there a reason why? [Edited 7/11/14 20:17pm] ''∃ƴεĦαтε¢нʊ ''

I don't think that I'm one of the fans that "produce sarcasm" for Prince. I love Prince, but I also believe in speaking the truth about someone, fan or not. People tend to put celebs on a pedestal, idolizing them so much that they pretend that they can do no wrong. Celebs are people just like everyone else, and if there's something about Prince that I don't like or agree with, I'm going to speak my mind about it, not sugarcoat it, or only speak wonderfully about him just because I'm a fan and he's a celeb.

I also don't think that I post much negativity about Prince. That said... Prince does a lot to provoke negative reaction. Off the top of my head....

I tend to agree. Who needs people like Lil Mo when some of these 'fans' around here are ready to rip Prince to shreds at the drop of a hat. A 30 second clip is released and they rush to declare his career over. If these people had any influence, Prince would have never released any music in the first place. It's so typical on this site that I often loathe coming here. Some people should look in the mirror when they open their mouths. I predict that this thread is going to quickly devolve into a shouting match with insults hurling back and forth. "So fierce U look 2night, the brightest star pales 2 Ur sex..."

Ain't no fans like Prince fans. Just like there ain't no one like Prince. No fanbase equally loves and hates their respective idol as much as Prince fams. I got two sides... and they're both friends.

Yeah, Prince fans are weird. I take a lot of what is said here with a pinch of salt sometimes.

Especially the part about the revolution. Some of these people are still wearing their shirts. This site is kinda strange cause you have SUPER FANS, CASUAL FANS AND....HATERS? These haters are an interesting bunch :P Does Prince read this shit? I just go through reading a thread about him "Bunny teeth". The comments were hilarious; but fucked up. XD ''∃ƴεĦαтε¢нʊ ''

Very simple reason - Prince fans have standards.
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
But you're not in a relationship with the man, if I don't like who a person is I cease to follow them and give them my money. So its your standards, but its his career, and he's not basing his career off your standards, so at a certain point you need to decide to either let him do whatever the hells hes gonna do or move along and not ruin it for those who didn't really give a shit about the lotusflower website or the crystal ball fiasco or the lawsuits against bootleggers.. I mean really, you people harp on shit that happened two to ten to twenty years ago as if its happening to you in the present moment, you all must be really angry sour types.. like old men yelling at kids to stop having fun on their lawns. I wish I could some of your permanently high on weed so you'd learn to chill the hell out. Its Prince.. its aint that serious. Change it one more time..

THANK YOU^^^^ This man has been through so much. I'm not sure If hasn't changed his way in an inner sense; but we can tell that Prince has gotten WAY better. I just honestly wish some you guys would stop talking about this ''REVLOUTION ERA''. Lets enjoy Princes NEW music. I'm sure he has something in store for you guys that he's been trying to release. I;m so sure Prince has his times of being an asshole; but who hasn't? I mean come on! I'm so glad I wasn't around in 70's - 80's time frame because I would be bitter like you all. I don't want this to be taken in a negative sense. I just wanted to say this.
PS. I think he is alot sexier now, AND he is alot more established. AND WAYYY better than before.
I <3 Prince. IDK about some of yall ''∃ƴεĦαтε¢нʊ ''

All of the above and I think many of us who thought he was the second coming in the 80's just keep hanging on waiting for even just a glimpse of that standard he had in the 80's. Sounds sad but if you lived through that era most everything has and will pale in comparison. I think people are disappointed in a lot of what he has released and how he has conducted himself... and they express this disappointment in different ways.
I personally believe that he has not had a decent "editor" since the WB days and what has been released (without a filter) has tarnished his legacy somewhat. I'm not bitter but it's a bit disappointing to see a guy with so much talent piss it away because he is not open to critisism.

Both njemelbourne and lezama made some good points. Yes, in the good old 80s Prince was The Beatles and James Brown and Jimi Hendrix and Mozart all in one! Yes, that's the impression he made! No one could do what he did, no one could even think of doing what he did. But of course no one can keep up that sort of excitement forever. But if you've been into an artist so much, following his every move, then it's almost like an addiction and it's not so easy to say, "Oh, I'll just listen to something else". I do that of course if I don't like Prince's new music, I'll just put on another record, but I'll always be interested. You never know, the next tune might be good.

It's a measure of his talent that he's kept so many disgruntled fans coming back, if only to say they hate it. Apparently, he's been no good for almost 20 years but still well worth criticizing. [Edited 7/12/14 11:17am]

Add to that selling 5th generation TV recordings of The Undertaker and The Beautiful Experience videos thru NPGMC in 2001 and u pretty much have it all. . IDK how things were before 1997 but the fans I met IRL back then weren't so hateful. I think if was friendly to his fanbase and delivered when doing business with them everything would be quite fine, even those who don't like his post WB music would 4give that (after all almost all artists r constantly being compared to their younger selves and very few stand the comparison in most people's eyes). . literally made his relationship with his fans a battlefield and it generated much negativity. It's sad and I'd say it's not too late for him 2 make up for his mistakes, treat us decently and do straight business with us but I don't c it coming anytime soon after the recent threats of suing fanblogs for one million bucks and the way he begins his new business relationship with WB by bashing them publicly . I still have a lot of respect and care for the man, he brought so much happiness in my life over the past 25 years... but I can understand some not finding him friendly ^^ A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

For the 10,000th time, WB hardly ever acted as an editor, their impact on 's creative process was nonexistant and the decisions they forced upon him or advised him regarding tracklists and releases are relatively few. . Reportedly we have: - Suggesting him to record an additional, radio-friendly track for the album that was to become 1999 (good move). - Advising him against releasing When Doves Cry as a single (thanks God he didn't listen to them!) - Declining to release ATWIAD with America's 21 mn long version taking one full side of the album (I doubt that one, it conflicts other stories, but if true it was probably good even though we don't know what the album's config was at this point). - Advising him against releasing Kiss as a single (thanks God he didn't listen to them!) - Declining to release the triple Crystal Ball and forcing him to make it a double (worst thing ever to happen in human history if u ask me). - Advising him against releasing IIWYG as a single (obviously they were right on that one but I understand the point was trying to make). - Pushing to invite Jam, Lewis and Johnson on board for the 4th Time album, which led to Corporate World becoming Pandemonium (Not sure for I like both configurations of the album quite equally but if u take it from a commercial POV, not an artistic one, it was probably a good move). - Suggesting that adds Gett Off to D&P (good move). - Supporting Ingrid Chavez in her decision to sing on her album, which led to give up on the project and let Michael Koppleman and Levi finish it (we'll never know what a full album with would have sounded like but given how wonderful the final product is I guess good move, even though the songs gave its original "color" to the album and it probably would have been just as great) - Advising him against releasing Sexy MF and MNIP as singles (lame for Sexy MF because the profanity issue was only valid for the US, quite wise when it comes to MIIP) - Asking to rethink Carmen's album because they weren't satisfied with it (both configurations are quite lame in the end so I don't think this one did any good) - Declining to release Gold Nigga (and missing an opportunity to have a trendy album that would mix jazz, funk and hip-hop in the vein of Miles' Doo Bop, Guru's Jazzmatazz and Brooklyn Funk Essential's first album, really bad move if u ask me). - Not allowing to release Love Sign as a single (well that's only business but that was bad for cuz the song was really popular at the time). - Declining to release TGE at the same time as Come (really bad because at this point would have promoted TGE and it had it in it to be the next D&P, so in the end they got 2 flops in 2 years instead of one flop and one hit on the same year). . I may have forgotten a few anecdotes but basically that's it: some great moves sure but some really lame as well, and in the end I don't think one can say that the things above are enough to claim that WB served as an "editor" for or were responsible for the greatness of his first decade.
