Just as a side note, I remember being thrilled that it was going to be included in Crystal Ball, only to find out that it was the 'guitar' version and not the 'sax' verison
...and, that it was edited.
I still have hope for the entire 7:14 Sax version to be released some day!

I always heard it as "playin the forth and back...", but I'm terrible without a lyric sheet. Make it so, Number One...

What you said sounds more close to the actual song Whatever it is it sounds far from "Never Forget That" or "Baby don't hold me back"(from second verse)

Crucial is one of my favorite songs of Prince's, and I also really love the sax version! But like other unreleased songs that were passed around fans, this version's weird pitch of vocals and quality bother me =<

Love this song although I'm glad it got bumped for Adore She Believed in Fairytales and Princes, He Believed the voices coming from his stereo

I always hear this as something like "every little thing is ecstasy"
Confusion/interpretation obviously reigns with this superb song.

This is a great Prince ballad. I'm glad it got cut for Adore but it's a shame a spot couldn't have been found for it somewhere. It might have made a good single, it's one of his more commercial sounding ballads. It would have been nice on Graffiti Bridge, perhaps (since he was already including older material). * * *

This is perhaps my second favorite "unreleased" song. I say "unreleased" because, although it was on "Crystal Ball", that version PALES in comparison to the still-booted 7+ minute "guitar version" from "The Work 2.0". OHMIGERD, that song is fantastic. The guitar work is peerless.
