I keep reading comments about songs/albums which are basically nothing but:

- Yuk to that song/album PERIOD.

- This song/album sucks PERIOD.

- This album/song is terrible PERIOD.

- This song/album is good PERIOD.

- This song/album is not so bad PERIOD.

- This song album is great PERIOD.

- Prince has become a mediocre artist PERIOD.

- Prince is the greatest composer ever PERIOD.

And so on and so on...

No offense but those comments are meaningless, kinda primary school level of critical argumentation and expression of personal opinions. No one gives a f... about reading people saying something is good or bad without providing further explainations. Why should anyone care what you think if you're not even able to elaborate?!

I don't mean to start a fight with anyone and I'll admit that I, like everyone else, have had my share of stupid posts on this forum every once in a while, so please don't get mad at me. But if we could skip all the "this song sucks PERIOD" and "that album is good PERIOD" comments and try and explain WHY we believe such thing is good and such thing isn't (or why we dislike or like them), we'd certainly lose about 75% of the posts on this forum but at least, maybe at long last, this forum could become a really interesting place of debate and insightful discussions about and his music.

I'm all for it and I would sign a petition for ya, but, it ain't gonna happen.

Best we can hope for is to achieve a good balance between thoughtful moderates and the extremists that think that either everything sucks or everything's a masterpiece.

They tend to do this a lot on Allmusic (3 sentences-long reviews) and I tend to think they really take us readers for a bunch of idiots and being paid for doing a very lousy job ^^

That site certainly helped fuel my Prince fandom, and seemed like the serious site for info and retropection, interviews, etc.

I'm all for good debate, but what more can we talk about that hasn't been said already? When a new album comes out, then we'll have a discussion point or when the remasters appear, I'm sure we'll have a lot to talk about then. Just a matter of time.
