Interesting indeed, now I fail to understand y P needs a label to handle production a digital only single sold only on iTunes. Promotion maybe? R there promo singles of the song? Was it sent to radios directly in digital format (I guess it must start happenin' now, why go thru the hassle of printing promo CD's?)? Also fast would maybe have meant being released the week the episode of New Girl was aired to benefit from the hype? Glad both parties r happy with the deal, though A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

I suspect LA Reid just wanted his name attatched to Prince history. Of course he was expecting more and he had to be surprised by Prince's WB announcement. I wonder if the bs Michael Jackson Xscape album had anything to do with Prince choosing WB instead? What if MJ's 30 year old unfinished fodder outsells Prince's new album? We will never get remasters and outtakes if that happens. I doubt Warner's has an actual deal in writing with Prince. It wouldn't surprise me one bit if Prince becomes unsatisfied with sales of "The Breakdown" single and walks away from the whole thing. I think the next week is pivotal for the outtakes deal. Y'all better start buying multiple downloads or else!

MJ's sales will most likely be superior to a Purple Rain remaster's sales let alone a new P album, no one can seriously question that. MJ is MUCH MORE famous worldwide than Prince is: people know MJ everywhere from the Philippines to Algeria to China, while most people in those countries have no clue who Prince is. But I don't c anyway what it has to do with anything. WB's deal with P has been negociated for months, of course there's a deal, do u think WB would just hand him his full catalogue back on a promise? Obviously the deal with the remasters is that P has to give WB the exclusivity of most of not all the WB albums's first rerelease before he can rerelease them on his own, and that P is to provide a certain amount of previously unreleased tracks for each reissue. The new album is probably an added clause to the contract or maybe not even part of it at all and may not go anywhere in the end, but when it comes to the old WB albums it's more than an promise. NOW of course there r 100 ways P could screw up the rereleases and sabotage the whole remastering operation with WB, but I'm quite sure WB saw this coming and had their lawyers make sure P wouldn't screw them up: there r reasons while the deal took almost a year of negociations to happen ^^ A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

I hope that is true. But LA Reid mentioned all he had was a handshake deal with Prince. And that was likely an exaggeration. He probably didn't even have that. In fact everytime you hear anything good or bad about a Prince deal, as of late, there is nothing in writing. I think WB was desperate for a shot in the arm and caved to Prince's terms, because they have nothing to lose by trying. They really do have their own hard-luck story over the last 10 years. They are not the corpoate powerhouse we remember from back in the day. What if Prince is testing their abilities with The Breakdown? Today marks the first real promotion push. If "The Breakdown" doesn't start climbing the charts, I could see Prince walking away, outtakes in hand.

I am glad at least we know now and can stop speculating about the 3rd Eye Girl album coming out. We can move past that(unfortunatley) and concentrate on the solo Prince WB album. Sorry to hear the girls album most likely will not come out. I wish he would just upload it on his website for download only. Why waist it?

You don't know what cd or cd we will end up with. Remember, Prince's exclusive deal with Target, we got 3 cds. 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

Actually we do. Nik West did a full review of the disc and she clarified that the WB disc is strictly Prince solo and NO 3rd Eye Girl.

Still unanswered questions. Nothing states the 3rd Eye Girl project is not coming out, so we just have to wait. It would be a shame for it to not come out though. I just hope Prince rewards us for the wait. Love God and I shall 4ever Love u

So u think the 3rdeyegirl project got higher priority than PR remasters a solo album? once thei wb dral was announced Prince said there will be a solo album. 2 my ears it sounds that the 3rdeyegirl project is done [Edited 5/10/14 18:24pm] Welcome 2 The Dawn
