The Gold Experience - What will we get n the Remaster? Since somebody started a similar thread for ATWIAD, I want us to discuss what we could possibly expect to see for TGE whenever it comes out. I think the big difference is, will TGE even be part of the remaster series? I mean with its release history, its not a silly question to ask upfront. I assume it will be, but until its confirmed and scheduled who knows?
As for the extras, alot of TGE-era outtakes were on CRYSTAL BALL if I remember right. Hopefully mastered better this time, maybe more stuff like "Days of Wild" studio version and the single edit of TMBGITW (which had its own peculiar release history.) Any other thoughts and suggestions?

Can we at least wait and see if the Purple Rain Remaster happens?

I'd like to see the original intended release with the metallic gold booklet and back with the days of wild included, the one that David Letterman holds on the Dolphin performance & the one the NPG are holiding on the Sunday Show interview, that would be enough for me it looked so much better than the one that eventually came out, and I remember how dissapointed I was that DOW had been removed he might have better luck if he was drummin with his Dick!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

That's a hard one because many outtakes ended-up on C&D, Child Of The Sun and Crystal Ball and now belong on those albums. There r loads of mixes and edits from the singles: just the whole collection of TMBITW remixes and edits makes me feel dizzy, and there were quite a number of edits and mixes for Eye Hate U and Gold as well as an edit for Endorphimachine on a promo. P Control also enjoyed several remixes (some released on a promo and some not). Rock & Roll Is Alive (And It Lives In Minneapolis!) is the only b-side. The yet unreleased studio version of DOW (either edit or long) is an obvious choice. There's also the other studio version (pseudo live) from the Love4OneAnother TV special which rocks. There r also the Interactive CD-Rom version of Endorphinmachine, the unreleased original version of We March and the version of Interactive with the NPG Operator (belongs there more than on a CB rerelease in the end because of the NPG Operator). The long mix of Billy Jack Bitch is a must have. Love Sign and its remixes qualify since we probably won't get a 1-800 New-Funk remaster and it seems to me they belong here more than on Come Mad and Funky Design also belong there since they were released on their own thru NPGMC, unless they go on an Exodus remaster alongside Sonny's versions. As for totally unreleased tracks there are a few songs that r known to exist from earlier configurations: Strenght, Angie, The Jam (studio). Laurianne and Dream among others from that era could belong here too but just as much on a Come remaster. That's all that comes 2 mind.

I'll add to that the fact that the full Beautiful Experience show that was sent to some european radios at the time deserves a release, well, no HAS to be released (it's a killer show!)! And The Beautiful Experience and Love4OneAnother TV programs would be a nice video addition alongside the music video and related TV appearances. And there would be a REALLY NICE video box-set to be made with the 3 Miami 1994 shows that have leaked! They need some re-editing when it comes to the multi-angle cameras but they're an absolutely beautiful statement of what P's live shows were at the time. The original mix of Endorphinmachine before the keyboard & synth overdubs... Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors.

That, too, but it'd be nice to keep that one for a Come rerelease considering the fact that the 2 songs segue into each other A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

that orignal 19 track comp would be a good start

I hear ya! The way 94/95 unfolded, I've always had a hard time really separating the Come & Gold projects. Even Exodus to some degree. That whole set has as much of a cohesive single project feel as Lotus/MPLSound for sure. Come and Gold, to me, are like two sets from the same project, if that makes any sense. As popular as The Dawn boot is, others must feel the same. Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors.

I think the Come, Endorphinemachine segue on 10,000 wallpaper is just brilliant. Such a fantastic 3 year period of music She Believed in Fairytales and Princes, He Believed the voices coming from his stereo

Doubt this one is ever getting remastered. It's been out of print for so long nobody remembers it outside of hardcore fans. Which is unfortunately because it is one of Prince's better albums...

EVERYTHING will be if not remastered at least rereleased on the long run. But possibly not anytime soon I'll give u that. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

I'd say everything up to 1992 is the best possible scenario. I'm doubtful about Come, The Gold Experience or Chaos & Disorder, those are long forgotten records that don't appear on best of lists (unlike Dirty Mind or Love Symbol).

It's not the point, the point is that an artist of P's importance can't have any album OOP forever. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

We may not get one seeing how it didn't sell that well. I think we would get a D&P remaster first! 99.9% of everything I say is strictly for my own entertainment

Wouldn't it be hilarious and ironic, if WB and Prince couldn't come to an agreement on Remaster/re release of The Gold Experience?
- E-mail - orgNote - Report post to moderator |
Yeah but we're not talking about someone like Michael Jackson or Whitney Houston, who only ever had *6* regular adult studio albums. Prince has way too many and even the Warner years have a lot of forgotten stuff.
In my opinion, if they do more than PR, at first I'd only expect 1999 and SOTT. The rest, I would not bet on at all...

By the time they get around to the Gold Experience, I imagine we'll be into the hardcore collectors' phase and they will be releasing this in a box set along with Come, C&D, etc. with (hopefully) a clearing house of alternate versions, and outtakes that are unreleased and pulled back from CB and the NPGMC and wherever else some have made appearances.

As far as I'm concerned, they can just use Fishpaw's The Dawn 4.1 running order/setup and just turn down the damn loudness/clipping and get some decent dynamic range out of this great era of P's music. I think Boris did a much better job of compiling the 93-95 era than P ever would. Will always be one of my favorite bootlegs.

I'm talking on the long run of course, not the next 2 years. IF WB isn't interested loads of small labels will. Let's not forget that for most of the indie labels around selling 50,000 copies of an album is a huge seller. Prince could also put some sense into himself and open a huge online store with everything. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

There will be no rush to remaster the 90's works. There isnt much of a market for it. I will not be purchasing any 90's reissues. Well maybe other than the remaster of 1999 The New Master

WB could split it into smaller box sets. . 1978-1981 1982-1986 1987-1992 1993-1996
