Another 'Electric Intercourse' thread Judging by P's insistance on no profanity in his work as of late, do you think this track ( arguably his best ever outtake ) will even see the light of day, even in its live incarnation on the forthcoming Purple Rain Delux edition?
And... was a studio version even recorded? I lay down in the grass tryin' to see the World turn...

There's no profanity in that song. We don’t mourn artists because we knew them. We mourn them because they helped us know ourselves.

No studio version is known to exist but the circulating live version was overdubbed for its planned release on PR, so it sorts of constitutes a "studio" version in the end. Out of all the possible outtakes to be included on a PR remaster, EI is the most legendary and expected one, so it's very likely it'll be there. Not adding it would inevitably result in a negative backlash from both fans and critics, something P and WB will hopefully try avoid. Releasing stuff like Breakfast Can Wait is far far worse than swearing.
And as Genesia said: there is no profanity in that song. If Prince chooses to discard all the sex-related songs, because it shows him as the pervert he is, then yes: we will get very few outtakes... Stop the Prince Apologists ™
