I can't imagine WB would release something as lucrative as Purple Rain Deluxe without ensuring anything but pristine remastering. The new Prince album release was likely a compromising carrot to dangle in front of Prince to get him on board for the reissues.

i really hope you are right on this.... i could imagin so many great releases from prince - but after all this great disapointments and "never happened promisses" in the last years i would simply be happy with a full new CD - i would like to hear Plectrum Electrum as much as new Prince "only" one

Hope he hasn't forgotten about 3rd Eye Girl and the Plectrumelectrum album. Not only are Plectrumelectrum, Wow, and Funknroll great studio songs that deserve to be released (and whether or not they are better songs than The Breakdown, the production is much, much stronger), it would be a great disservice to Hannah, Ida and Donna if they aren't.

Do you genuinely consider a whole album of his to be crap? I think select songs are yes, but not a single one of his whole albums. They are masterpieces compared to albums released by current artists who make it into the charts.

I really hope Plectrum Electrum gets a release.

I just wish we could get some proper concrete fact filled announcement on something.

I think it's about time we got tracklists and release dates.

For Plectrum Electrum to be totally ditched, i think he has too much regard for the

One listen to Pretzel Booty Logic, and I was hoping he'd ditch the project. It sounded about as dumb as him rapping about doing his duty with the New Power Booty in 1998, or Tony M rapping about manure in 92. Fixurlifeup was an ok track, but I haven't bothered to play it in about a month, and wasn't crazy about it to begin with. Fallinlove2nite is better, and The Breakdown was pretty good despite having Stormtroopers firing laser weapons off in an overproduced mess of an excellent song. I'd love some guitar songs, but lately, they have been lackluster since the last great blast of Lotus Flow3r.

She's may be contributing to tracks a la the Breakdown so that may be the reason for that comment and her presence at the listening party.

I agree. But WB may pressure him to not release everything at once, and if they do he may decide (and it would probably make sense) to do the P solo album and the PR rerelease at the same time. Which kind of sucks considering how many of us have been waiting for PE.

Prince has been waiting 4 a good distributor for a while now to unleash this new album. "The Time" has come & this year is going 2 b BIG as promised......

It's possible since the released version of The Breakdown is from 2012, I guess we will never see the 3EG version cuz I find it hard 2 believe that he will release it also on the 3EG album. This could also mean that we won't get a rockier 3EG version of 2y2d

I find it interesting that the songs he previewed at the Dakota seem to have had virtually no changes since then and their eventual releases (barring 2Y2D which is still under wraps). I like that he isn't tinkering too much with them during the interim (Endorphinmachine). Also wondering if Rock And Roll Love Affair is on the new record, too.

Seriously? I think his stuff with 3EG is far better, bolder and fresher than any of his solo projects of recent years. I would prefer to get PE in my hands than another solo album first. 3EG has invigorated, more than distracted him.

WB will let him release a 3 or 4 record set now if he wants and I bet he wants!

Oh boy... I've been thinking the last few days that the Purple Rain remaster will be like the 3rd disc in a combi-pack or some shit. We know how Prince hates for the cost of packaging to impact his bottom line. I expect a censored PR album with PR era B-sides and recent live tracks of PR material, maybe with Josh's finishing touches to some of the old outtakes since Prince had "taken them as far as he could", a 3EG disc, again by Josh and a Prince album featuring the same hum-drum writing patterns we've seen since the late 90's. I know people think that saying so is being a troll, but common sense tells me this scenario is most likely. Also maybe a one off PR reunion show, but half assed and last minute without any proper planning or rehearsal. Morris, and some of FDeluxe attends, but everyone else is committed to other projects and therefore cannot attend.
