The reason I ask is because on the drive in to work this morning, I was listening to the "Paisley Park" extended edition, which I haven't heard in a few years, and I remembered how blown away I am by all the AMAZING guitar work at the beginning and at the end. I have to say, the guitar in this song is probably my favorite out of all his songs. It's incredible how on the one hand it sounds heavenly, and yet at the same time it's angry. Just brilliant, inspired stuff.

"Erotic City" is my favorite of all of the extended versions.

"She's Always In My hair" is my 2nd fav.

I think I would go La La La, He He Hee as well.

BUT:

It's a grey area sometimes, what's the extended version and what's simply the 'complete' version. Like, I can't stomach the 7" edit of Another Lonely Christmas for instance, and would consider the 12" version to simply be 'the song'. So if it's allowed, I'd say Another Lonely Christmas... because the edited version drives me nuts!

I couldn't agree more about the extended/full version of Paisley Park. You hit the nail on the head: heavenly yet pissed off. Man, it's good stuff.

Yeah, some of these definitely feel like the "real" version of the song, I couldn't imagine listening to the short version of Erotic City for example, the extended one feels much more complete imo. That's not always the case however, I barely ever listen to the extended version of Paisley Park despite it being one of my favourite Prince songs. Idk, it seems to me that all the added background noise and whatnot kinda distracts from the original tightness of the song, although I appreciate the added guitar work.

You mean the "train" and "seagull" noises?

The guitar parts in the remix are nothing more than the solos behind the album version isolated and brought to the forefront. Taken out of context, so to speak. Still, goot shid!
