The difference being Purple Rain is a soundtrack to a movie that included those songs. The same can not be said for SOTT/Madhouse or /Carmen Electra. This wouldn't prevent Remastered rereleases of Ice Cream Castle nor would it be out of place on such a compilation.

Well at least u're not saying a ICC rerelease is worthless. But would u spend ur buck in a box-set containing twice the same album: one without the non-Prince songs and one with them? Wouldn't it b a bit of a rip-off (and even more if u have to buy those songs again on a ICC and a A? remaster)? Let's be honest, I'm going to buy all of them. If there is a multi-teir release (as has been speculated) with single disc, box set, limited edition, vinyl etc... I'd be buying everything sans the digital release and the bare bones CD release (assuming everything on it was also on a deluxe version). That includes any remastered associated artist releases like Ice Cream Castle. So, yes, I'll spend my bucks... I'm not saying it's my preference, I'm just saying inclusion of the songs by associated artists that were in the movie do potentially have a place on a PR collection. That said, I wouldn't want to see them included instead of tracks that are unreleased or ones that are only previously available on vinyl singles.
