Renunion of The Revolution ?

Anyone else notice that Glastonbury have broken with tradition and not revealed their main headliner this year (due to "contractual" issues). The public will be told in May.

Both Prince and Michael Eavis basically gave "no comment" comments a few months ago. Michael Eavis has never hidden his desire to get Prince, and both sides have said one day it will happen. Eavis has confirmed the headliner in known to him, and has never played the festival at all.

Prince was in the UK 7 weeks ago, randomly for a few shows with no major product out, but apparently involved some business meetings.

Oh, and Glastonbury this year falls on.....the exact week of the 30th Anniversary of Purple Rain Album. Pure gold, in marketing terms.

One off Prince and the Revolution performance???

Its not often that so many coincidences line up.

Didn't the Revolution publicly invite Prince to join them on stage last year, but he didn't respond? So obviously, they are open to it. None of them (even W&L) are doing anything these days that wouldn't pale in comparison to a Revolution reunion.

It doesn't have to be a "World Tour". It doesn't even have to be a US "Tour". Just at least ONE select reunion event that promotes the remasters and possibly benefits a charity of some sort. I think they'd all be down with that.

I agree. I'm a new fan. obviously since i'm only 13, but i'm not excited either. although i am child of the 80's, we can't pretend that they could just pick up right where they left off, after he's been through solo career, NPG, and now 3EG. Not happening.

I think a reunion with the Revolution would be great. If he's going to acknowledge the 30 year anniversary of Purple Rain, might as well go all the way. I think it's time to retire the NPG, whom are talented musicians but boring.
If he's doing shows commemorating Purple Rain I don't think it would be cool with a bunch of horns nor the one dimensional sound of 3rdeyegirl.

It's quite confusing, but I'm following both facebookpages. It seems that the Revolution members are anxious to get out there with Prince.
Or do I read between the lines that they like to grab a small dollar extra all along the hype ?
It's a bit weird. But hey, as a fan I'm happy. And Prince has quite a harem waiting for him, instead of the other way around... smile
