New topic PrintableAm I the only one with thinks the lyrics are really contrived? The first verse makes me cringe for some reason
LOVE the screaming in the bridge though. P's range really is as good as it's ever been. [Edited 4/27/14 6:47am] I got two sides... and they're both friends.

Two things: 1. I. LOVE. This song!!! It seems like the impossible has happened, because I've had this track stuck in my head, and on repeat. This has not happened with new Prince music in YEARS! Prolly 3121 era to be exact. Regardless, I love it! Good work, P! 2. Is anybody else hearing a nod to "When I Think Of You" by Janet in the opening chords?! Sorry if it's already been discussed, but this thread is too long to wade thru to find that shit out. Anyway, things are looking up!

Completely agree! I think the song is nice musically speaking. But I totally agree; lyrically, it sounds like it took him all of 5 minutes to write the song.
Still, not the worst tune he's ever put together.

It appears the song is now available on spotify, so the OP should probably be updated to reflect that. Just a heads up. Heavenly wine and roses seems to whisper to me when you smile...

I've updated the original post with links to both Spotify and Xbox Music. If there's any more platforms that should be added, let me know. |

What was the story with Discojellyfish? It sounds familiar but I can't recall.

just a instrumental portion of Chocolate Box, it's ok. better than CB because it has no annoying vocals [Edited 4/29/14 12:00pm] She Believed in Fairytales and Princes, He Believed the voices coming from his stereo

This lead to her meeting a fellah and dirtying some sheets. A short period later she missed her menstrual cycle but didn't think much of it. Bybtme she realize there was an issue, the octopus heart had been beating too long and she wasn't allowed to make it stop. Turns out pretzelbodylogic isn't always so much fun..

It was a preview available ahead of the album. When it was posted, many Prince fans swore that it was not Prince but rather a fan faking it with a Prince-like track. At least one even "proved" this to be the case.... Of course when it came out with vocals, proving it was Prince after all, those that were wrong used their same arguments to "prove" the song sucks! Good times... Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors.

the song you're thinking of is the shorter, instrumental version of "Never B Another Like Me" which was posted on mplsound.com (later "another boy" appeared on that site iirc). "Disco Jellyfish" was 'released' on the lotusflower.com website, where it played on a stereo on the site, until the day the site went live.

You know if Prince sings this song live, with those screams, he is going to have to have stretchers available for some fans who may get overwhelmed by his screams in 'The Breakdown'. Remember in Vegas 2006, at the Empire Club, when he played a tease of 'The Dance', but didn't play or sing that song, and some female fans started screaming like crazy banshees on crack, because they thought he was going to sing it? That was hilarious. [Edited 4/30/14 9:43am]

[Edited 4/30/14 12:50pm] Well gee....I had no idea he could do that. The thought never even occurs to me. Maybe the concert goers can sip green tea with their legs crossed, and in a reserved manner, take in the sounds that are hurling out of the Marshall Amps across the arena, landing in the next county. Green tea is some DAMN good stuff, it should be a challenge to stay calm...that green tea really gets the party rollin'....lemme tell ya. [Edited 4/30/14 13:00pm]
