Maybe we should all just ask Kobalt if they are releasing PE or not. I've already asked them by E-Mail. Maybe if enough people ask, they might respond.

Before this thread goes on lock, now would be a good time to remember:

With Prince, NOTHING is ever certain. We have about 40 years' of experience on this and if we haven't realized it by now, the problem is with us, not Prince.

Therefore, the best thing IMHO is to just wake up each day, check the Org for an announcement of the release of a new album, song or video and, if there is no such announcement, then enjoy what you already have.

Damn straight and well put. Man, are people ever so catty on this site. I give you props Millitant for trying to wade through the Sea of Everything Negative.

It's not up to them. It's up to Prince. Prince's agreement is with KLS (Kobalt Label Services). Essentially, they provide distribution, marketing and accounting services for artists in exchange for a revenue cut. They aren't the record label in the traditional sense - this record will be released on NPG Records.

They don't provide A&R services. They don't call the shots or make any release plans or creative decisions. When Prince is ready to release a product via NPG/Kobalt, he'll let them know and they will provide their services in exchange for a cut of the revenue. But there's absolutely no way they are going to provide any information about release dates and things like that on behalf of the artist if those things haven't been directly announced yet by the artist. It's not their job, it's not what they do. In this scenario, that's all up to Prince. Kobalt aren't going to release any information that hasn't already been directly stated by the artist.

For the record, I'm currently involved (in a songwriter/vocalist capacity) with an independent electronic record label that has a similar partnership with Kobalt to the deal that Prince has. So I have a pretty solid grasp on how they operate.

So,...is this still "the current logical assumption based upon the hard recent evidence that we have".

Great, now they can use the riff from I Wanna Melt With U in some Pearl and Dean local cinema advertisment fiasco.

No, because new evidence has come to light. That's how it works.

Never been so glad to possibly be wrong on Prince walking out on the Kobalt deal. Now 3rdeyegirl being marketed as a seperate entity makes sense. Kind of like Parliament (with Casablanca) and Funkadelic (with Warner Bros.) back in the day. I'd say Militant's speculation is still solid (more solid than mine in any case) just replace Epic with Warner.

Yes, because further new evidence will come to light and your old guesses will be wrong again. Where is the logical assumption when nothing turns out as you say it does? Why is this concept so hard for you to understand?

There is only one response to this. And it comes from an org legend and one of our best posters.

Are you ready?

Pride, I imagine. it's a devil of a thing. All we're talking about is semantics really. Surely, he'll agree that none of us have any real clue what, and with whom, Prince will do next? I doubt it...apparently a 'logical sssumption' based on the 'evidence' is good enough. When that's wrong, it'll be a new 'logical assumption' based on new 'evidence'. Welcome to Prince.org.

So you've seen the contract Prince has with Kobalt?
