-------- It is true and he just recently stated in an interview that he has not always been a nice guy but that he was trying to do better. I give him some credit for being honest. | |

He stated on Tavis that he "does have a mean side" so owning it but so do i as im sure we all do.. If no one on the org has never been a dick to someone then they havent lived..Hell half the responses on the org thread are dickish toward other people [Edited 4/3/14 9:56am] | |

the thread title is misleading but nobody ever checks so people do it in order to get more views
Howard uses up more air time by talking about Prince and making fun of him sometimes. He would use a lot less air time if he said Prince was a nice guy - end of story. Think about it.
so this thread and this topic are both garbage (then again, it is the internet)
the title should have been "Fred Armisen on Prince" but it would not have gotten as many views

Ok so I admit this thread was a gut reaction to my first listen of the interview. I re-listened and I stand by my OP. Fred does confirm that Prince is a dick. I never said Fred called him a dick, just confirmed it with his story. I also established that the incident "went something like this" so you knew I was giving you the jist but not exactly what happeded word for word (the quotes of the dialogue between Fred and P were only for effect). Only Fred and Prince know for sure what was said.
Here are a couple of things I didn't put in my OP to clarify...
This was at an afterparty for the SNL episode that Prince was on that PRINCE threw for himself. Separate from the SNL party that the cast goes to. Fred in the interview admitted that he sort of went to the Prince afterparty with the sole purpose of meeting Prince and hoping Prince would compliment him on his impression. He also reiterated what a huge fan he was of Prince.
Yes Prince was eating, but it WAS Prince's party, so you would think he'd be a gracious host to someone from the show he was just on promoting his music right? If I have a party at my house, and I am sitting down eating and someone comes up to me to say what a great party this is or what a great house I have, am I going to be a dick and say "Don't bother me, I'm eating."? NO. Becuase I'm not a dick.
So while in the actual interview it is not Fred who calls Prince a dick, it is Howard, and he uses the word "Cocksucker" not "Dick" I stand by my tag line in this post. Fred is confirming with his story that, yes, Prince is a dick.
That isn't a bad thing btw. Prince probably hears how great he is so much that it is probably annoying to hear it every time he is out. He has made some of the greatest music of all time. He gets a dick pass in my book. I only posted this because I thought the story was hilarious. Still do.

I'm not sure if Fred has posted here on the Org, but he very well might have as he most definitely posted a few times on the NPGMC when that still existed.

It was at a restaraunt. The polite thing to do is to wait until someone is finished eating before approaching them - it's RUDE. It's surely not appropriate to interrupt them just to gush over them. | |

I truly don't understand what the fuss is about here. I think that P's reply was funny... I know I'm an oddball, where all is fair in humour, but I also go by what some others here are saying... The man was eating. Here are three exceptions to interrupting someone whilst eating: . A) You're already at the table. B) You're a friend who happens to be at that restaurant. C) You're a stranger, who either compliments you or wishes to ask what the dish you're eating is. . ...and I never learned this. This isn't just etiquette, it's just the way it is. Since I'm essentially a loner with a great sense of humour, I totally get it. I think it's honest, gracious, and funny. . ~G

...in other words, y'all crazy for calling that a dick move. It's about as honest and in the moment as you can get. Then again, I lived in D.C. for a while, so that would be normal, as in NY.

Yall really feeling bad for an unfunny wealthy comedian not getting complements from Prince when he was eating? Its weird how nobody says anything nice about him when he donates millions to charities but when things we shouldn't care about like this happen he's an asshole automatically. And as stated above his response was funny. Prince seems like the sort of artist who's an entertainer off stage too. [Edited 4/3/14 23:14pm] | |

I'm sure prince thought it was hilarious as do I....especially if you take into account Fred's strange cadence and posture and mannerisms when he speaks....all extra propper and shit. Spend five secs watching the Seth Meyers show or any talk show appearance Fred's made. [Edited 4/3/14 20:50pm] | |

People come and say P is a dick but how'd'u feel if every damn day of ur life unknown people'd come to u and told u u're so great? A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/ | |

That's a good point. I don't think that any of us know how gracious we would be if different people came up to us on a daily basis saying the same things over and over and over.

You're right. There's really nothing here. But what Prince should have done is say "You know what's great? This Mac and Cheese and then offer Fred some." | |

Personally? I'd feel really great about that. Yeah, being told I'm great all the time would really suck. | |
