Is that a Lee Michaels reference in Rock n Roll Love Affair? The verrrry first time i heard rock and roll love affair I heard the 'do you know what I mean' line and IMMEDIATELY thought of another song. I've been thinking on it off and on and did searching here and there and me thinks me finally found it. Funnily enough...someone back in '08 thought they would like to hear prince do a cover of it in a 'work with prince' thread. Sadly enough...the name of the song is 'do you know what I mean' ...really makes me feel like i earned my diploma there. Lemme know Whatcha think. | |

That one lyric could've easily been inspired by this song, but I think the "do you know what I mean" is common enough saying on its own. Kind of like "Take It Easy" or "One Day At A Time". |

Mostly that it took me like 2 years to place this recognition I had the very first time I heard the song. | |

More specifically, its an allusion to the tune...maybe because of a similar story line...maybe cuz Hannah or jda liked it or fancied it...or just a childhood fave(seems like summin they play on AM in princes youth for a Minni audience.) I had just been absolutely certain I'd heard it before, but was beginning to think I'd imagined it all up when I FINALLY found the song I was certain I had heard when I fist listened to rnrla. The similarity is uncanny, and IMO, undeniable... I tried to fish this info from others 2 years ago but got no bites. I'm proud that I finally figured it out. | |
