After listening to the two songs, I don't hear the rip-off. Prince's "Colonized Mind" where he interpolated the Miriam Makema song was more blatant and should have been credited.

when you want a hit song there are some of the chord progressions that are hit oriented.for example Save It Tonite by Eagle Cherry have the same chords as One of Us by JOAN Osbourn.

You can find that chords progression in many hit songs ,even J Lo has it.

Does that make them copy cats? no its just the same chord cadence or sequence.

If I Was Your Man and Fallinlove2nite does have the same chord progression but they are not similar in melody.

But there is one strong similarity.Melody line of the Jesse Johnsons solo on

If I was yo Man is the same as the synth line from Fallinlove2nite.

So yes Prince was inspired by

I don't hear the resemblance TBH, but if you're talking about synth lines, and comparing it to Fallinlove, the latter was produced by Josh. We don't know if Prince contributed synths to the track at all. And I doubt Josh is an Original 7ven fan. He's very much into very mainstream types of artists/sounds.

not true at all. chorus in If I Was Yo Man have the same

chord progression as Fallinlove2nie ad the synth line at the end of Fallinlove2nite is the same as Jesse johnso0n guitar solo melody
