Yes, well keep in mind we haven't seen any official credits for this one yet either. And we aren't likely to unless it gets a release on CD, if then.

The song has chart success potential but he's gonna have to do a video and more tv spots. But who cares I know he doesn't . Just give me a new album. Love God and I shall 4ever Love u

I really want this to be an across the board hit despite the muddled production, but if I were to be honest, it falls into the same category as songs like "Sleep Around" and"The One U Wanna C" --- enjoyable tracks with minimum potential impact on the charts.

Yes its catchy, yes its corny, yes its got HIT potential!
But will it b??

Wow, some Prince fans sure are a picky, spoiled bunch. He puts out a catchy pop dance track (at 55-freakin-yrs-old!) that he probably composed in his sleep, yet some of you are disecting it like crazy. Is it enjoyable to listen to? Then shut up. "The password is what."

The charts are largely about payola. As soon as Prince struck that deal with clearwater he had his first charting on adult contemporary billboards since TMBGITW. If Epic put money behind the song it'll chart, period. Change it one more time..

I like it. It's a fun, funky, catchy pop song. I hope it does well. Looking forward to hearing more about the album. * * *

This won't be a hit. It's silly sounds very contrived, those keys are wretched. Prince in caricature. I doubt that he cares but all the same I wish him well. Bring on the album, what I've heard of it, I've liked. small circles, big wheels!
I've got a pretty firm grip on the obvious!

Cream is as cheesy or cheesier than FIL2N, definitely. The others, too.
Much of what we fans accept as normal (or have just gotten used to) is pretty cheesy to the average human.
Definitely realized this while watching SOTT the other night with a few friends who hadn't seen it. But it didn't matter, they still loved it, because of course he's still amazing Prince.
He's good at being cheesy. This is obvious, right? But whether he's in that mode or not, it doesn't seem to necessarily have any bearing on the quality of his music.
Half of my favorite Prince songs are, I'm sure, super-cheesy.
That said, I really can't stand Cream.

It's great as is but if they release a remix version, change it up a bit there is no reason why it can't chart well. The chorus is infectious. Guarantee once it's released you will start hearing it everywhere..basketball games, skating riks, casinos..maybe even the radio. 1 over Jordan...the greatest since

i wonder why the symbol is back so strong these last few months? . first the microphone stand, then the gold symbol guitar in mojo, now the symbol even bigger than "prince" on the promo single. . is it just because it's so recognisable from a marketing perspective or what? because the symbol has always been around since 2001, but far less obvious than now. . anyway, i just hope he dusts off that gold symbol guitar in concert again because i loved it's tone (although i know others hate it).

Yup. I mean, "Kiss" was almost completely produced by David Z, but Prince still took the production credit. |

Kobalt (I've noticed they've ceased promoting Prince and Liv Warfield on their social media accounts even when they were on Arsenio) made the mistake of thinking that Prince was comfortable with being an indie DIY artist who didn't care if he got played on the radio and would promote his music through other means. Based on recent interviews where he's expressed frustration over not being played on the radio and not having hits, as well as comments from his mouthpiece Funkenberry on various Spreecasts about Kobalt not giving him enough "incentive" to release his music ($$$) it seems Prince never was happy with the Kobalt deal and just signed it out of desperation when he couldn't get anymore multi-million dollar upfront payments from any magazines or newspapers.
Prince clearly wants to be on a major label and on the radio so this single may just be a "test" to see if Epic can deliver the "hit" he wants. Even if you don't like the song if you want to see "Plectrum Electrum" released you had better hope against all odds this song gets airplay and is a hit so that he'll go ahead and let Epic release Plectrum (given that was the album Prince recently previewed for Epic's L.A. Reid). If not, PE is likely going into the vault.

He wanted an advance from iTunes a few years ago. He got exactly what he worked so hard to get for so long. And in the end, when it meant putting in some consistent effort and work to promote and sell his music, he decided he doesn't like the new system he helped in large part to build. He just wants people to pay him for being Prince. And he had that. Then pissed it away. Several times when you consider his deal with WB and all the get-rich-quick scams he perpetrated on his fan base in the last 15 years, starting with Crystal Ball, and most recently (? hell, I can't even keep track any more) lotusflow3r.com.

I still find it hard 2 believe. Maybe he's just wanna promote Josh as a producer. It sounds more like a remix or some post-production like Ricky P or Kirky J did it in the past.

If you are like Prince now or, LA Reid, and you can't see just how bad and shoddily produced this track is, and will be perplexed at WHY this record will under no circumstances ever be hit, it's ok. Not all of us have the same tastes. That's why they sell fanny packs and hot pockets. There is something for everyone. And as time goes by, time takes it's toll and sometimes lose touch.

We know why it won't be a hit. He won't do anything to try to make it one, his age, old news, etc. But as a track, I see little difference in its hit potential than your random bullshit by the likes of Pitbull, Britney Pears and other bullshit of that ilk. Except that it's actually pretty decent by comparison.
