Lighten up, Mr. Cranky. Nobody's "telling" Prince what to do. It's a tongue-in-cheek petition (if you read it) asking him to release it. Some people really like it and that's all that matters.

And I'll take one of his horn players' words over some bitter hater who's never even heard the entire song yet:

I would totally agree if I hadn't already really liked what I've heard so far. I'm a big fan of Sleep Around, Chelsea Rodgers and Dance 4 Me, so this song scratches me where I itch, too. I like Prince's dance/pop tunes as much as his sophisticated rockers.

I feel the same as WetDream. This song is shit. I did not become a Prince fan because of dumb music like this. There are enough David Guetta's in the world, Prince shouldn't go down that route.

Oh, and I like Sleep around as well, but would never compare these two songs.

Simply said, it's a good jam. Anyone who says it's embarrassing is just being a drama queen.

I wouldn't go so far as to say it's embarrassing (certainly not more embarrassing that anythign else that he's put out in the few years) but I will say that I finally watched the episode tonight and was incredibly underwhelmed, aside from the Camille voice, which I loved. Would I like him to release it? Of course. I'd like him to release everything he records, because no doubt there would be stuff that I love that other people wouldn't and vice versa.

I respect your take on it. And I agree with the snippet part. As far as Sleep Around goes, I've always loved that song -- especially the (live) drum breakdown toward the end. Prince performed it in his concert here in Columbia SC in 1998. It was awesome live, and he pulled seasoned citizens and little kids from the audience onto the stage to dance with him. It was the highlight of the concert, as was the final encore of When Doves Cry, which he performed EXACTLY like the album version. I was in serious awe.
