hmmm Did the version on "New Girl" have a stronger horn section?

[Edited 3/9/14 17:30pm]

pretty much the same horns,

although there was a different intro that had an opening horn riff.

I thought something was different. I think it works better with the horn intro smile

Well it's another one of those many Prince songs that melodically doesn't stray too far from the verse in the chorus - I like it but a middle 8 wouldn't have hurt just to break it up.

Surely this is going to be a standalone single rather than on the album - can't see how it would fit with what we've heard on Plectrum Electrum.

I've already stated my complete dislike for this track and it still hasn't changed. However, i can acknowledge that it WOULD be an absolutely huge hit on radio etc (not necesseraly a good thing). He could get down with the kids with this one.....and thinking about it, that is really embarrassing. Shit song with shit production, basically.

Really liked this on New Girl. Couldn't find it for shit though, but did. Doesn't go anywhere special after what was on tv and it's still too short, but I'm still messin' with it. Got that Emancipation vibe, like I think someone mentioned. I couldn't see it being a hit, the way folks ignored Black Sweat, but who knows. Stranger things have happened.

"Don't U wanna Fall In Love 2Nite" has a pop/techno vibe 2 it. It has top 10 pop written all over it. Especially with the co-lead female vocal, which works perfectly with pop radio.

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

Loving the strings at the end of it!!! It's got a really cool club/disco feel to it and I could definitely feel this song being popular with my non prince buds at college. If they don't like it, too bad, I'm playing this to death!

the one thing this song needs is to be way longer though!

Sounds very 90s. I don't about all this "hit" talk. Sounds like it could do ok in clubs with proper remixes. I don't hear this doing anything on radio though. Sounds like he kept Zooey's vocals? Horn work is sick. Strings are cool, too.

It's ok. I'm sure it'all grow on me. It's shit like having this played on the radio that makes you think we'all get a 3rdeye album and a solo Prince or both on a double smile

Yeah, doesn't sound like this will fit in with 3rd Eye Girl stuff.

Couple thoughts on this version..

1) As someone else mentioned I think the intro was stronger on the New Girl version, with the horn rift. Sounds pretty abrubt so I am pretty sure this is still very demo.

2) The hook is excellent and super catchy, the synths and strings are nice

3) Feels unfinished. I think it could use some of Prince's special, eccentric special touch to raise this to the next level. Perhaps an extended funky outro or bridge?

All in all though its a song that makes you smile, sing along and shake it. Look forward to hearing the finished version.

First thanks to Militant for the posts of the leaks! smile

This is a very cool pop song and nice to hear after a year of everything else from P.

I definitly think that is Zooey on vox with P. Maybe he made the song just for the show?? who knows with P!

It sounds like a cool outtake from the late 80s that was just unearthed which is awesome!

Not sure what I think about this track.. its ok I guess. Its different for Prince. I think in the same way I didn't really like TMBGITW but it did great on the radio this could be the same. I'd much rather hear FunknRoll on the radio TBH.

Change it one more time..

This one is okay, but I have a feeling it might be the kind of track that other people love way more than me -- which is cool in it's on way. I love that Prince has diverse fans with diverse tastes and I like seeing everybody get something they want. I definitely prefer "Funk N Roll" personally though.

I like it. When Prince does something you wouldn't necessarily "want him to do" (i.e. "edm" in this case) he often comes up with strangely satisfying results.

Hmm, could that actor's voice being on this track mean that he really just intended it to be something that would be on the show, but not on an album of any sort after all? The female voice isn't Hannah or someone else from his own camp, right?

didn't josh write this track? i think people were saying that on the initial thread.

don't know what to think really. i kinda like it. it's fun and all.

but someone on FB called it a "drag race cast off" or something and now i can't

listen to it without seeing the girlz dance on the catwalk to this tune at the end
of the show falloff

my guess is it will either end up on the 3rdeyegirl site or this will be it's only

'release'. otherwise it'll interfere with all the effort being put into 3rdEyeGirl.

oh wait a minute, that sounds exactly like something prince would do lol

and true love lives on lollipops and crisps
