For me, being fan is about loving his music and especially his live concerts. It's about finding comfort in some of his lyrics or cheering myself up by playing his music.

To Bart's point (can't believe I'm saying that), Prince did seem to let down the purple veil a bit when he married Mayte. All the B.S. on his website about them being soulmates and some other wack-a-doodle sh*t, sharing photos of their house, he was starting to do more interviews, etc. However, after the death of their son, he backed off of that. Because of the gossip surrounding that tragic situation, I think he learned that it's all or nothing with the media. You don't get to choose how much of their nose they stick into your business once you give them a sniff. So he went back to being guarded which I don't blame him.

With Mayte someone was blackmailing him with photos. So he went to the media before they could.
