It refers to a period of time when you're acting beyond your boundaries.

The keyboard parts are a variation of "Caravan" (made famous by Duke Ellington). He's used the same motif also on the title track on Rave Un2 The Joy Fantastic and on the unreleased song "Soul Psychodelicide (both recorded around '88).

these are the Days Of Wild........ music

Meaning -to me- The 1994/95 Gold Experience era / album, this was as good as it can ever be.

Looking back it sure was a fantastic era,

Confirmed "wild" with Come, Exodus &.... The Gold Experience. worship

Of all the attempts Prince made to catch up with hiphop, this is the best. It's a monster of a grooooovvvve. cool fro music headbang I don't always get the lyrics with its talk about tennis shoes and pop guns and weeds and all that, but he's making it clear that he does not like the whole sex and violence thing in gangstarap and I can only agree with that.

Yes, I guess it's a rap song in which he slams rappers. Just like "Dead On It", only much better. One of his best songs of the nineties, even of his whole cataloge. When I listen to "We March" and I remember this song and "Interactive" where left out of the album, I know what Marvin Gaye meant when he sang "Make Me Wanna Holler".

The studio version is a wet fart. Live, it was a stomping, hard-hitting jam of a motherfunker!

Slammin' rappers looking "all the same" and braggin' about how he looks better than them dressing as a girl or so (can't say I disagree).

The second verse is directly addressing Sinead O'Connor's allegations and making a feminist point in a rap song at the same time.

As for the title I guess it addresses the era P and his fandom were going thru. With the break-up from WB and the name change those were indeed days of wild for us biggrin

It's a lot like "Uptown". It just means do your own thing, peace and be wild. Wear your hair the way you want, the clothes you want, do your own thing while respecting others. It's not that complex really and it's a great song.
