Do U think it's better to date a Prince fan? Should your Boy/Girlfriend be a Prince fan?
I think it's ok only if ONE is a major fan or if one is a major fan and the other is only a respectfull fan.

i'm glad to say that i have more important criteria for picking my mate than something as trivial at this.
so far anyway. but, actually my mate is a Prince fan.

i ain't datin anyone at the moment, but if i were 2 find that special somebody they'd definitely have 2 have a tolerance 4 the brotha. and of course, it'd be a definite plus if they were a fan/friend/freek/fam/whatever as well. not betta by any means.

I don't necessarily think it's better, per se, but it's ideal if a potential partner shares at the very least a healthy respect for someone's work you have a passion for. This post not for the wimp contingent. All whiny wusses avert your eyes.

Yeah! Now that's nice too...

Actually, I think it's better if they're not a fan at all. In an ideal world, they would respect the music and let me play it in the car/at home without making any of those "Oh not fucking Prince again!" comments that you all must have had at some point!
One of my ex-girlfriends was into Prince before I met her and then I got her hooked on all of the non-commercial stuff which was cool. What wasn't cool however was taking her to her first ever concert at Wembley and having her complain about how loud throughout the entire show! When we split up she even had the cheek to try and say that a couple of my bootlegs were hers and that she has lent them to me! Put yourself on the worldwide org map! www.frappr.com/princeorg

No. Because if they were you'd spend every waking hour
making up alternate tracklists and burn alternate cds to The Gold Experience and coming up with that one and only SingleDiscEmancipation. It would be a nightmare. Every spaced out Prince fanatic needs someone to keep them leveled. A Westlife fan or something and true love lives on lollipops and crisps

Yes, it's better.
Think for a moment, why you never see a punk-rocker dating a country-music fan. Because music reflects our outlook on life, and in a good relationship, this should match fairly well, or at least overlap. Fear is the mind-killer.

Congratulations to you! I met my boyfriend at a Prince concert in 1988 and we are still together and hopefully it will last forever We are both members of the NPGMC as well. Nowadays we both are not as much fans as we were back in the days (especially me), but it is wonderful to be able to go to concerts together with someone who understands you when you stand in line for a soundcheck or travel for hours to see the man live. We are also both fans of Sananda/Terence Trent D'Arby and went to see him live together a couple of times last year, and I really think it's fantastic that we share the same taste in music. BTW, my boyfriend is on the org as well , he just doesn't post that often (he was more active in the old PML/PPML days). With a very special thank you to Tina: Is hammer already absolute, how much some people verändern...ICH hope is never so I will be! And if, then I hope that I would then have wen in my environment who joins me in the A....

Hi all!
This is a fun subject, and yes, to me it is important to be with someone who fancies Prince, for many of the reasons mentioned above. My lover turned me on to Prince when I was 17, it was "Under The Cherry Moon" that he played for me, and that's when my heart was stollen...abducted by love! Now we can be Prince maniacs together, in love! Life is great!! Mesage from the Happy Sunshine

I don't know if it'd work because the relationship would either be so over rated or under rated.
If you decided to become intimate, you could never agree on the order of foreplay. -

My husband is so not a Prince fan...and it's hard, becasue anytime he gets into my car we fight, when he tries to turn off my music!!! But he does respect the fact that I love Prince, and he never tries to stop me from going to concerts or my plans to attend the upcoming celebration (if that happens)

I actually like my wife not being a huge fan. She likes some of his stuff and respects him as a musician. In some ways she keeps me in check, and I think that's needed sometimes.

I think it is better... my highschool sweetheart was a Prince fan and for 10 years we grew up together listening to Prince,we are no longer together but it was awesome we stood out side all night long to get wristbands 4 shows.I did not have to worry if I was annoying him because he loved the music... we would go to sleep listening to Prince he got me in to Jimi Hendrix I think in general it works if the person loves music as much as u do.

He better be or @ least have a HEALTHY amount of respect for the music. Wouldn't take too long to turn him out...
Actually, it can be hard being in a relationship where your musical tastes, etc. are so different. Could seem like a trivial thing by my last boyfriend's taste was very different from mine, hence we never went to any live shows together, I went w/ other friends, spent less time w/ him & more w/ people who had things in common b/c it was easier & more interesting. A few years of that & little differences can help a couple drift apart over time (if you let it)...

U never know...It helps in terms of the music I dig, thats 4 sure...I recall a time leaving the 1999 album on: Lady Cab Driver, DMSR, Aut-O-matic etc...2 only hear "how I made her listen 2 this strange music" etc...
I ain't gonna even lie I was a bit upset at her thin layered comments. I started wishing that it would B a beautiful thing 2 B chillin with a lady who can B open 2 all types of music...see something that simple is sexy 2 me when 2 people can share a connection like that. Auhh the gift of music...

Serious said: ...but it is wonderful to be able to go to concerts together with someone who understands you when you stand in line for a soundcheck or travel for hours to see the man live. Yes, this can become an issue now that NPGMC have the soundchecks and general admission seating. If your boyfriend/girlfriend is not a Prince fan, they are not going to understand why you [i]have[i/] to get to the theater at noon so you can wait in line for a soundcheck that starts at 5 p.m. And if you're going to travel to see Prince, you want someone with you who will enjoy the experience.
