Creating an original reggae composition isn't easy, if one wasn't born and raised in the culture the sound and feel of the song will always be off. Groups like UB40, The Police even Culture Club were raised in neighborhoods of mixed cultures where reggae music was as common as taking a dump. Without hiring an authentic reggae producer, outsiders can't capture the sound. Better off being like Clapton and converting the reggae song to pop(I Shot The Sherrif).

Wasn't Prince a part of Shelby's single 'North Carolina?' I know a funk reggae beat when I hear it, and it was certainly there in that song. The funk-reggae beat is what drew me to that song.

North Carolina is a beautiful song (I've only ever heard the live version) and I hear the funk but not reggae.

p.s.

I'm in love with Shelby's head. lol

Yeah I was just about to say Prince produced that track for her, but Im not sure if the decision to make it reggae was hers or his.

Change it one more time..
