blue light is his best reggae .. other than that .. doesnt really come close .. lots of great reggae out there .. not from prince tho

I also saw a live performance of him and Chaka Khan doing Sweet Thing. It was pure reggae and the best I've ever heard him at it.

So, I just made sure Prince touched every genre of music that existed.

There was a contribution from "Steppa Ranks" on "I rock, therefore I am" on the Chaos and Disorder album.

I love some roots reggae and dancehall, that´s why I can´t stand Prince trying to use reggae elements in his music. Same goes for rap.

Prince almost went on tour with Bob Marley back in the days when they had the same tour manager for a brief time but Bob didn´t want to because he didn´t like Prince´s style of clothing.

I really don't like reggae at all, that's why I can't stand prince trying to use reggae elements in his music.

It's a bit deeper than that. Marley refused to even talk to Prince because he thought he was gay. That's an issue I have with Marley - it's very hypocritical to sing about unity and peace and also be so homophobic that you won't even talk to an artist who isn't even gay, just becuase he dresses effeminately.

Of course, Jamaica is one of the most homophobic countries in the world, so yes that was the culture he came from. But he was certainly not the enlightened, open-minded person you might assume from some of his songs.

He was a West Indian rastaman, they are homophobes usually because of their strong faith and their culture . Their culture has both very positive and uplifting and bad sides. BTW The JWs are homophobes as well usually and Prince joined that faith.

Well, as a general rule, Prince does not wear reggae well. A notable exception being Ripopgodazippa. Other reggae-lite tracks that spring to mind are Blue Light and Splash

That seems so hyprocritical because (speaking from personal knowledge) Jamaica has one of the largest gay populations in the Caribbean. There is a lot of noise made about the "abomination" but they have flourished there for decades and not in any underground setting either.

Whatever, guys,, I'm sure Bob would have changed his mind if he saw Prince in Lovesexy tour or PR tour, he passed away unfortunately.

Had he toured with him in 80(Dirty Mind) he would have changed his mind about Prince before he passed away.
