Just picked up my copy of MOJO. Only skipping through the article at the mo, but lots of it. 16 pages. |

I love Rave and prefer it over Dirty Mind also. I don't understand why people on this site just blast people for actually liking an album by Prince. I guess its only cool here to hate the man, hate his work and talk about how Prince sucks and everything after the 80s is garbage. I truely dont understand why people here still are because they are filled with nothing but hate towards Prince. Well I like rave so deal with it. |

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cover_date
In the United States, Canada, and the United Kingdom, the standard practice is to display on magazine covers a date which is some weeks or months in the future from the actual publishing/release date. There are two reasons for this discrepancy: first, to allow magazines to continue appearing "current" to consumers even after they have been on sale for some time (since not all magazines will be sold immediately), and second, to inform newsstands when an unsold magazine can be removed from the stands and returned to thepublisher or be destroyed (in this case, the cover date is also the pull date).[1]
Thanks for clearing this up.
Couldn't find the magazine here yesterday. I might have to wait until early March to get my April issue.

Wow, people really like Rave over Dirty Mind
I know music is different to each person but I'm amazed anyone could like that boreathon over Dirty Mind
Maybe that means I'm "blasting" people or a "hater" but I just find it incomprehensible. Aside from I love u but dont trust u anymore and Tangerine its a shockingly bad Prince album, probably his worst imo ----------------------------------------- |

...don't think there's been any blasting or hate on this particular thread - just discussion and disagreement about the relative merits of 2 albums. (For the record, I chose Rave as I do personally think it is the worst of his hour plus albums therefore an obvious point of contrast to the half hour and change of DM not because it's a terrible album per se).
Also, I don't see in this thread anyone saying they hate Prince's post-80s work or how he sucks...
Anyway, please continue to stick up for Rave! Like I said in an earlier post, we should all champion our personal choice no matter what the general concensus is - but you might want to expect a bit of banter coming with those opinions |

DM is better than Rave because it has something to say and say's it concisely.
Yeah that sums up the issue there. Its the cohesion of DM (with the fact that there are no filler tracks) that makes it better. Rave & Chaos were for me thelow points of the 90's material along with the solo NPG albums. I like everything he's done since much more. Change it one more time.. |

Don't even get me started on New Power Soul! Anyone who argues that's better than DM deserves all the abuse that comes their way!!!! [Edited 2/25/14 9:38am] |

Nothing wrong with Chaos, cracking rock/pop record. Rave and NPS were low points though. So glad he's got away from that kind of elevator background sound. ----------------------------------------- |

^ You're getting old! I think we all are.
I like Blood Orange, his past couple of albums I checked out last year and they got repeated playthroughs for a while (a rarity these days). |

....got this from the mojo website - haven't heard it yet (or heard of many of the artists).
Blood Orange is Dev Hynes who has worked with Solange Knowles and Sky Ferreira (amongst others). His latest album is excellent - check out the cover of Mansun's Prince-ly I Can Only Disappoint U (titled Always Let You Down).
Got the Gayngs album a couple of years back which is Ok.
Pick of these for me would be the late - Arthur Russell who made some of the best dance records of the 80s/90s under a variety of guises.
Looking forward to hearing the CD. |

Cool. P would approve then? Good to be introduced to new artists in this way. Similarly (though not as funky) I'm playing the Lianne La Havas track he played with her a lot and hearing of his cover of Liathach had me swooning to the voice of Jo Hamilton last night. Liathach is also one of my favourite Scottish mountains. Serendipity innit? |

How could that not be on the disc? That was one of his best tracks in years! Simple, funky, fun... It's gotta be on Pletcrum!

Lets not forget the song " Dont U Want Somebody 2 Love" should be on it, which is the track he performed at the end of New Girl.
It's not a 3EG track and will not be the album, although were there to be a solo Prince disc it could be on that
I wish u heaven |
