Byron said: Temptation Digital Garden Joint 2 Joint And God Created Woman Dear Mr. Man Do U Lie Dig U Better Dead Positivity Satisfied Thunder
Temptation: An eclectic and fantastic album finisher. Muscular blues soul sax from Eddie M. Prince's sexual and spiritual duality here is defined. Fun and underappreciated Prince x factor. Rainbow Children in utero without the "Why so serious vibe."
Digital Garden: Sensual and liquid soulful elements mixed with belicose rock angst. A grower that for me is more album track than classic P.
Joint 2 Joint: Perhaps my favorite track on what was a disappointing triple album. Hypnotic bass, unhinged falsetto, humour ( soy milk, you just want me for my achres etc), bizarre unresolved coda that begs for an extra minute, links to Prince persona( just drive) , finishing in a taxi cab (lady cab driver) and a tap dance solo. Strong and awesome track
God Created Woman: Magic. Stunning ballad. The Jazzy side of the NPG. The most eloquent of Prince's spiritual and sexual side. One of many plateus on a distinct and memorable album. Links to Prince's love of film with the Bridget Bardot reference as well as the book of Genesis.
Dear Mr Man: A groove track with a nice horn arrangement and rhythm. Some clever wordplay and was even better in the live version I heard. More a six or seven than an 8 or 9 though.
Do you lie: Like a beautiful girl in a summer dress walking into your life for the first time. Cool and unforgettable. Part of the gris gris thrown into the cauldron of Parade that puts the album into the pathenon of fan favourite. Gymnastic vocal semi skat that flys by the seat of it's melody is a highlight. Clare yeah.
Dig u better dead: I liked this from the first listen. I can see why it might irritate, but I would put this on a mix tape. Catchy chorus. Not throwaway, a lesser example of classic npg regardless of personal on the track.
Positivity: Prince squeezes genius on this track liberally. Compelling and seismic groove. If this was Church than put me at the front of the pew. A mighty album closer and key song of the Lovesexy era. So much in this. The depth of Prince's work shows the passion and fervour I do not see in his 3rd eye projects.
Satisfied: No I would rather listen to the sexual playground of insatiable or the stark lust of scandalous. A 5 or 6 and not a fave.
Thunder The first album track from my first Prince album and a cassette tape no less. The harmoniser in full effect. Arabic elements and a very Princey relationship with God. These are the tracks only Prince can make. This is why he is not mj or Pharrell or Marvin. This is a statement opener with the catchy lyrics come and save your soul tonight. 2nd tier but still top shelf quality rolling out of the vault and definitely no jughead.

Temptation It´s okay but not really my favorite on ATWIAD. Should have been replaced by She´s Always In My Hair, and should´ve been released as a b-side.
Digital Garden Sounds like a total rip off of that song called Broken Wings (which, by the way, had been covered by Mayte Garcia before she met Prince). I like his singing on this one and the music, but the lyrics are too esoteric, too cryptic for the casual listener, and sound too dated today. Wasted opportunity.
Joint 2 Joint Liked this one much more when it came out. Still like it but it has aged badly. Interesting tune though.
And God Created Woman Still love this despite the obvious bibilical references. Great song, great lyrics, great music, a very timeless song and classic Prince song as far as I´m concerned.
Dear Mr. Man I like the message but not the delivery. Good intentions, but the music is kinda meh.
Do U Lie Not really a song that I go back to very often, and also a song I like to skip when I listen to Parade but there are times when I like this quirky little oddity. Very cliche sound with regards to France but hey, it´s on Parade, so I can´t hate it.
Dig U Better Dead Also not a song that I would listen to these days but I like parts of the uplifting and motivational lyrics. Not really a timeless classic though, and probably wasn´t intended to be one.
Positivity Love the lyrics, but loved the song so much more decades ago. It´s from Lovesexy, so I can´t knock this one. Great lyrics, so so music.
Satisfied CAN´T. STAND. THIS. SONG!!! Also dislike On The Couch and Extraordinary with a passion that borders on hate. Very by the numbers, boring , cliche Prince song that should´ve stayed in the vault forever. Totally unnecessary song. Any live rendition of this song is a wasted opportunity to play some of his better ballads instead.
Thunder Despite the Jesus references, this is a song I´ve always loved and still do. The lyrics are a bit vague (or maybe I´m just too lazy), and the music does sound a tad dated, but I really like this song.
Why did you choose this songs in particular?
