I wouldn't cut it like that. 1978-1985 (For You to Double Live) - Minneapolis Sound 1985-1991 (ATWIAD to Times Squared, including TBA) - Expanding musical horizons 1991-1996 (D&P to C&D, including TVOF4S) - Exploring R&B roots 1996-2001 (Emancipation to RITY2000, including TCI and The Slaughterhouse) - Plastic years 2001-2003 (TRC to NEWS) - Jazz years 2004-2012 (Musicology to Superconductor) - Neo-classical Prince If u want t try and make sense of Prince's musical periods this is, IMHO, the best way to separate his "eras".
