Prince Shockadelica - New book out now!

For the Scandinavian readers, check out the new book about Prince, written by Christer Falck and Petter Aagaard (both active users of this forum). It's in Norwegian, but should be a collectors item even for those who don't understand the language.. The book weighs over 1 kg, has exclusive (never before seen) pictures, and coverdesign made by Troy Gua. Lot's of contributors (essay, analyzes, personal best of list), even by the Norwegain Prime Minister (Erna Solberg).

Got the book last night, and can't wait to get started reading it..

The book was originally crowdfunded (yes, me amongst several others are given a Thank You in the book), but by the media attention Shockadelica has received in Norway, it already looks like a massive success..

Shockadelica can be bought here: http://www.platekompaniet...8293039532

Check out the book's facebook-page here:

https://www.facebook.com/shockadelicabok

Guess the authors can elaborate a bit more about the book? cool

Fikk boken sent i går, så har ikke kun tittet raskt gjennom. I've asked Petter Aagaard to make some comments about the book on this thread, so hopefully he will find the time to do so... smile

Hi. Christer Falck here, publisher and co-writer of the book. Feel free to ask if you have any questions.

So far we have received one review of the book, by the famous journalist Geir Rakvaag in Dagsavisen (Oslos second largest, and most credible newspaper) and the headline was: «Impressive Prince-tribute».

Here's the link: http://www.dagsavisen.no/...om-prince/

We ship directly from our website:

www.falckforlag.no

And we accept PayPal, PayEx and Visa.

The Prince is NOK 349 (57 dollars, 42 Euro, 34 GBP) + shipping.

The cool thing about this book for those of you that can read the Norwegian language, is that the book has an easy readable biography containg the most important stuff, incuding alot of never seen photos, quiz, trivia, essays etc... even our own funk doctor from Norway that actually has a PHD in funk says a few words in it. However the book must be seen as mostly entertainment and not just facts. Alot of gossips about his relationships and who he slept with etc are told as if they were true, and with almost no references. Makes it a bit difficult to know what to believe. Is it confirmed that Prince Sheila E was his girlfriend, and that they slept together? Is it confirmed that he was together with Vanity, Moonsie and Jill Jones at the same time? The book makes it seem like it is a known fact that doesnt need references. The authors have studied Per Nielsen books, as well as a bunch of other authors and even interviewed Jill Jones. So they know their stuff, but it can't be taken too seriously, and it's imo a bit sad. Cause non fans can easily say that eveything is fake if some of it are. The weak points are lack of references. However I bought it, and as an entertaining fan book, it's a perfect fan book.

Hi. I'm 1 out of 2 authors of the book, so I will answer on this, since Petter Aagaard is on tour with his band.

The things you probably didn't know from before is basically news that's related to Norway/Norwegians. We have exclusive essays by the Norwegian prime minister, stories when a-ha revcorded their album "Memorial Beach" in Paisley Park, Stargate-producers Tor Erik Hermansens reaction when Prince covered Rihanna's "Rude Boy", stories when A1's Christian Ingebrigtsen was close to getting hit by Prince's bodyguard etc. The biography is basically a Prince-4-dummies, from a Norwegian point of view. The second part of the book is a collection of essays by famous Norwegian authors (a stripper analyzing "If I Was Your Girlfriend", a PHD-religion historian analyzing "7" etc. The third part of the book consists of fun facts/trivia, discographies, lists, top10-lists by some of Norways biggst fans and celebrities, overviews etc. But I would sa the book is unique, both because of it's length (472 pages), it's pictures (70 colour pictures 170/240 mm), and Petter and me reviewing ALL the Prince- and Prince-related records..

So far we have received fantastic reviews, because the journalists who have read it, didn't know so much about Prince's life, but for you org.-ers, I suppose you know the most from before.

We have also been in contact with a lot of ex-bandmambers, ex-girlfriends, managers, etc. Jill Jones and Anna Garcia have also written essays for us. We asked for funny essays, not speculative ones, so they will add little to the whole Prince-story, but it's fun reading Anna Garcia taking the drivers licence with Prince as a driving instructor.. And Jill Jones trying to be funny at the airport in 1983, while the security guys didn't find her funny at all:)

No, sorry, but it's just meant for the Norwegian market. I'm not even sure people outside Norway (at least Scandinavia) will find it very interesting. But I'm sure people will LOVE it, because of it's design an looks. It sure is one of the most elaborate books on the market..

This sounds quite interesting despite the slightly gossipy nature of the book. Too bad that there is no English version planned.

So who is the second author who´s on tour right now? I mean what is his org name?

" I´d rather be a stank ass hoe because I´m not stupid. Oh my goodness! I got more drugs! I´m always funny dude...I´m hilarious! Are we gonna smoke?"

In the book "Prince" by Matt Thorne, you can read about the relationship between Prince and Susan Moonsie... In the book "Possessed" by Alex hahn, you can read about the relationship between Prince and Sheila E. ... and in the book "Chaos, Disorder, and Revolution" by Jason Draper, you can read about the relationship between Prince and Jill Jones...

Do you want to know what pages the info is on? smile

I'm very happy that you enjoy the book.

Thanks Petter. Already spoke to Christer about it wink and I understood that it was written in a way that has the intention of not making beginners loose interest if it looked too much like PhD articles with endless references all over the place. I clearly see that now. But even though most of it is confirmed more or less by some sources, some of it has to be taken with a grain of salt. I haven't seen anything that I know for a fact is wrong, so I know that it's not made up from nothing. It's just that stuff that isn't 100% confirmed known facts seem even more like gossips when the sources aren't mentioned. But other than that I'm getting further inside this book now, and I enjoy the way everything flows so nicely. Looking forward to read your reviews on all the slbums. This must have taken ALOT of time.

Here is a little taste of how it looks

Just want to come with a update on the Prince-book:

So far we have gotten fantastic reviews in Norway.

VG, Norways biggest newspaper, gave the book 5/6 p, and wrote three whole pages about the book.

His only complaint was that the book was too big...

http://www.vg.no/musikk/artikkel.php?artid=10121454

Aftenposten (Norways second largest newspaper) said: The biography is full of positivity and enthusiasm.

Dagsavisen (Oslos second largest local paper) says: An impressive Prince-tribute

BT (Bergens largest local paper): Impossible not to be charmed by the authors love for Prince.

The first edition of the book sold out the first day, and today we have the second edition in stock.

If anyone wants to see a PDF of the book, please contact med on my inbox or mail: falck@ccrecords.com, and I will send it.

The book can be ordered here: www.falckforlag.no and costs 349 NOK (ca. 55 dollars) + shipping.

I also have the «Shockadelica» 5 cd box available, if it's any interesting.
