Oh how i would LOVE to see that xD
But yeah in all seriousness maybe its a mix of both? Maybe he regrets some things but not all? I'd love to hear censored versions of his most explicit songs ohohoho

100% absolutely when it comes to the dirty stuff. I think its obvious on how he trys to ban anything from his past to even be online. Look at when the NJ Controversy show just came out on dvd. Prince went NUTS and started that lawsuit. Thank goodness he dropped it!! I don't know why he is so embarressed of it the sex stuff but he seems like he is. Dang I miss those days!! No more Do Me baby, Scandalous, Insatiable, Head, Dirty Mind, Sexy MF, Darling Nikki, Lets Pretend Were Married, Irresistible Bitch, Darlin nikki, International Lover, Erotic City... Those are actually my favorite songs too!! I think I will go and burn that cd now and remenisce on how good Prince used to be!!

Actually, I am not one to put limits on anyone's potential, but my point is based on the type of comments you know you would either read or hear from fans/non-fans, if he went back to swearing, and performing in more, intense sexually, suggestive moves, like he used to. Not saying that he shouldn't attempt to do that in a less, intense way, just basically stating it wouldn't go without criticism, and the mentioning of his age. I agree it depends on how he presents it, not saying he shouldn't make any attempts to bring on a tease during his performances. Like you said, it more or less would depend on how 'he brings it', so to speak. [Edited 1/30/14 12:42pm]

Why would any1 be ashamed of their past as the light permits darkness. The light consumes and bathes all. He had a role to play accepting what was done. But, the past is past and no longer. Feeling shame is the ego and what we are to do is to grow out of what we were and realize the Divine Light shining in All. When most of us take a physical body, a pre-requisite is to 4get our shining past. That is the hardest thing to feel then that there is no Love in this world while forgetting God Is Love and as each one of us, I AM LOVE. IMHO, PRN never forgot at the soul level that love is. I feel though that it is more difficult for some because their past is in the media spotlight while the common person's past is not known by strangers. ~honey is b-ing 1 with the 1~

idk. it depends on POV. i do not recommend him stripping or grinding or jerking off guitars...HOWEVER, some of his dirty songs are the best. just play em. we won't think any less of him than how most already do

I think he is but he still teases with it in concert because he still wants that money from the fans who want to hear it and would not pay to go see a concert full of nothing but his new stuff. Andy is a four letter word.

Nobody is saying that he needs to be stripping down to his underwear again. However, he would still look good if he did. I'd rather see a sexy hairy grown 55 year old man in his underwear rather than a hairless twinky bitchboy that looks like a plastic Chipendale dancer. . But playing snippets of "Erotic City" without vocals or changing lyrics in old songs doesn't look like the behaviour of getting older and more mature. It looks like the behavior of a child that wants to either cuss or get nasty but simply teases with it rather than actually doing it because they'll get a spanking if they do it. Now, that's what looks ridiculous. Not just ridiculous looking but also hypocritical looking considering that the artist is now claiming to be part of one of the most strict religions out there and acts "preachy". . I don't care if he's the cool ass nasty Prince, or the loony goodie two shoes Prince, just give me some hard ass shaking funk. When it comes to music in general, the funk behind the lyrics catch my ear much moreso than lyrics themselves. But as far as if he did become nasty again, it's just according to how he did it as to how people would react. If he did the Madonna route and started using current slang and lingo and started hanging with a bunch of these tired ass new acts, yeah, people would say he's not acting his age. If he was nasty as a grown up, mainly the only ones bitching would be the stuffy goodie two shoes fans who surprise me that they are Prince fans in the first place.
This lady right here is in her 70s and is absolutely filthy as hell and people love her for it. And I've never heard anyone say she's trying to act young. I've only heard them say...."That's a BAD bitch!"..... . Andy is a four letter word.

I'm not even going to touch half your post vain, but hey, if you enjoy that 70-year old lady and whatever filth she spews, then I guess different strokes for different folks.

Tempest said: I think it best that Prince take his past to the Lord & ask Him about it. It isn't enough for any of us to just blow off our past and say "I have no reason to be ashamed." There's no freedom in that. Shoving crap under a rug and pretending all is well doesn't fly with God. Let's seek God's opinion and not settle for our own delusions. * The best thing one can do is soul search with God, see what needs to be acknowleged as sin, sincerely repent of (past & present sin) and get cleansed of the filth. It's only when we accept responsibility & sincerely repent that God can cleanse us. * I think Prince should ask himself, if I were in God's throne room, would I sing most of my back catalogue? Or not? If the answer to that is NO, then repentance is needed. * Also, does it matter how we influence others with our words, music, lives, etc.? Absolutely. Taking responsibility for the bad seeds we've sown in other's lives is important. * Like I said previously, Prince is the only one who can do the soul searching & reflect. Hopefully, he'll do that before God rather than shove everything under a rug. God sees under the rug. The higher the mound under the rug, the more bound we are.
True but God gave him talent and im hopeful he wouldnt see prince using those talents as wrong. His music has and continues to bring smiles to many and that has to mean something.

The speech he made at that awards show where Patti LaBelle royally f^$ck&ed up Purple Rain and Alicia Keys crawled around pregnant on the piano, that speech made me think he had some 'embarrassments' I agree with everything youve posted. I watched that speech and he did seemed bothered by his past. Remember when he said something like this generation didnt have to do the things he did?

LayzieKiddZ said: I always thought maybe Prince was brought into WB by doing something sexual for WB. Maybe by getting fucked in the ass or something, which he mightve thought was alright to get what he wanted. Since stories are told of the like that people have to do things to get around with big labels. And he did have full production control without having a name, so who knows.
WB has a history with sibliminal messages.
So maybe its shame for supporting an agenda or doing something to get by. Only real thing I could think of. I dont know if youre serious or not but this is kinda disturbing.

* YES! God gave him LOADS of talent and that's why Prince needs to use it wisely. * If you can show me anywhere in the Bible where getting smiles from people is God's criteria for judging whether or not something is right or wrong, I'll pay you $50.00. Hitler drew huge crowds & got lots of smiles from people too (his followers). They worshiped him. I'm not comparing Prince to Hitler, I'm merely drawing a comparison & stating the obvious. http://www.youtube.com/wa...N1sf_enRXU * God does not see as man sees. He's all about truth, righteous & holiness. If what you're doing would not be considered "righteous" in God's eyes, or it's bringing people into a sinful place (thought, word or deed), then, it's sin. Even if they smile. * As I've mentioned before, if Prince can see himself performing Darling Nikki, Erotic City and the like in God's throne room with a clean conscience (lyrics to boot), then, OK. If not, then there's an issue. * It's up to Prince to soul search with God. However, I can promise that smiles, making people dance, encores & crowd pleasing will not be the criteria that God uses to determine whether or not the music & lyrics are OK.

Not ashamed of it but more annoyed by it. Too many want him to get on stage and curse and sing every dirty track when there's so much more to him than that. The cursing and sexuality was just a facet not the entire diamond! When go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all up in the house but when log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Right, I think people are agists, in that someone in their 50s or 60s can't be sexual or sensual etc that they should stop being who they are and conform to a standard of old age. . 50 is hardly old. I remember an old Twilight Zone epis: Kick the Can about elderly people holding onto their youth, and it was all about behaving as an old person vs someone older who still is excited about life. . When Tina Turn came back on stage with her short skirt showing all that leg and gave Beyonce a run for her money, I of course was cheering Tina on, she was sexy sensual and full of energy. We should anyone deny her or Prince that aspect of themselves. It's obviously there. . I was glad to see Prince ripping open his shirt on those W2 shows and showing skin. Not that I needed to see that personally, but that he seemed to be free in a way, until he came back to the states and covered up again lol . I know people in their 60s 70s 80s who are still a firecracker of energy and I love it . actress Betty White is LOVED by audiences old and a whole new young audience for her raw comedy her talk about sex and being really upfront and it's actually not raunchy and Betty is pushing 90?

Yep. His speach strongly came across as if he was embarrassed about that part of his life and shying younger artists away from imitating that.

I don't think I saw the speech that you guys are referring to. I may have and just don't remember. * I would just like to say that pride goes before destruction & a haughty spirit before a fall (Proverbs 16:18). Pride is weakness. To have a humble repentant heart is strength, happiness & freedom. * I'm certainly not proud of some of the things I did in my past. If I had to do it over again, I certainly would. I don't dwell on those things because I've taken them to God and He's forgiven me. I'm sure that Prince feels the same way about some of the things in his past. Since he's a public figure, maybe it's his way of trying to "right the wrong" by encouraging others (publicly) not to follow the same path. I see that as a good thing, not a bad or sad thing.

One of the things that annoys me is when an artist tries to distance themself from their past.I'm not saying that this is what Prince is doing, just making an observation. How many times have we seen a "nasty" performer/artist who gets older, announces they're "born again" (or whatever) and denounces the things they did in the past?

The thing with Madonna is...she's still alot of fun What I mean is that, she is older and wiser now but she hasn't lost her sense of humor and her edginess. She still curses and says provocative things in interviews.Ray Of Light came about after alot of soul searching and spiritual enlightment (and giving birth to a child) but every album can't be like that. That would be like expecting Prince to make another Lovesexy.I think that, what we see Madonna doing now,is the "real" Madonna. She's being herself: an unapologetic cougar on the prowl...lol
