Thanx 2 bashraka for posting the article. It's the best one I've read about it so far. There may be more method to Prince's madness then we think... |

Must be too much of a distraction at the moment when they are preparing for the tour and album release, to continue with it at the moment, but I don't think it will be totally forgotten.
No distraction...it served its purpose...It was a shot across the bow stating "dont even think about putting anything Plectrum related out there or i'll have you back in court".

The lawsuit was a bluff, and, of course, he came to the understanding that he still needs lawsuit-weary fans to buy copies of his upcoming album with 3RD Eye Bore.

its not a bluff if it can be refiled..bluffing is saying I'll file suit and don't..He did, so there is no bluff there |

I think the negative press coverage made him reconsider. He looked like a tyrannical egomaniac filing a lawsuit against his own fans...again. |

I dont beleive he has ever cared about negative press..It was only negative when the org spoke on it..Other sites , news orgs, just stated that facts |

Exactly, he gives nary a fuck about bad press etc...i beleive it was dont have no new girl or plectrum stuff leaked on your sites.. I know who you are and what you do. I got the wherewithal to track you down etc and the balls to litigate..
And face it..i know those sites and they actively and willing violated us copyright law.. They knew the consequences. |

Do a google search on all the articles written about the lawsuit. Many painted him in a negative light. If you don't want to research it, the Techdirt article is but one example. Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors. |

i did research.. you need to tell me how to read or comprehend..Mamy also didnt paint in a bad light..Anyways, on yesterday's View, Sharon Osbourne was on his side and said the ramifications will help all artists...Even if its negative, its his right and his livelyhood. |

This is important. Prince is giving a good example here, as he did in the nineties with his fight against Warner. [Edited 1/29/14 7:22am] |

I mentioned Techdirt, also Torrentfreak. Granted both are technology sites so they of course lean in that direction.
Several of the articles linked to in the original thread about the suit also made him look bad. Don't hate your neighbors. Hate the media that tells you to hate your neighbors. |

I don't agree with Bob Poppo. There will never be a bootleg of a live show that will make me not want to go one. They have the opposite effect: they make me wish I was there.
I had no idea that there had been previous cease and desist orders for those users. I do find it a bit strange that Facebook and Google would not be named as defendants because they hosted the stuff. Also, they should have monitored what hose users were posting. |

its fine that he looks bad.. when my parents punished me i thought they were bad as well.. I been in the tech world my whole career..Depending what folks agenda's are is gonna be the side you fall on.. When i was at IBM/Lotus/Solidworks etc all tech heavy, no way in hell we gonna let a customer not pay for a license or pirate our IP. Same thing applies here |

---------- Techdirt, also Torrentfreak. No one cares about what tech geeks think. The lawsuit was a scare tactic and can be launched again at anytime. The reality is he has never actually sued anyone he has only sent cease and desist letters and threaten to sue people. Even the dancing baby was Universal Publishing suing.
If you are not bootleggin any of his stuff you should not even be concerned and the average casual fan could less about this stuff. |

Eh, the damage is done. The listening experience becomes further tainted as you continue to lose respect for the artist. The "He's A Dick/But His Music Is Great" scale is way off balance now. He'll never apologize for being a dick, and the idea that he might release something so great that that you forgive him (yet again) just seems unlikely at this point. "That's when stars collide. This depends. I have gained respect for the artist, and he interests me more than his music now. |

Clearly if Prince feels like he's been damaged to the tune of $20 million+, that should tell him there is a market for all those bootlegs and soundboard recordings he has.
A $20+ million market, to be exact. |

I was speaking for myself and for whoever agrees with what I said (obviously). And as we are both "small cogs," let us continue to celebrate our similarities. "That's when stars collide. When there's space for what u want, and ur heart is open wide." |

Prince could learn a lot from Bruce Springsteen.

Respect for the artist is cool--but he sells his music (as I'm sure you've noticed) not himself.
So, he'd rather you were interested in the music, I'm sure. |
