Prince doesn't say "I am too sleepy" because that would be embarassing & maybe she feels the same way????
Still sounds like a make love not war song to me. Two peeps to exhausted from fuckin and lovin' to get caught up in fights or b.s. or making rash decisions w/ the outside world...and waitingnto do it again. Otherwise...prince is back to having gay sex again...cuz repeatedly it states their BOTH to sleepy to 'get guns'...or boners as u say. that would make prince self loathing....lol...according to Da Bougie. On first listen I thought this song was poor. Didn't even want a second listen. Went back to song later in the day and have to say I really like this. Had one of those 'ear worm' moments when keep humming the song throughout the day. Not his best but has really grown on me. Think this is strongest effort since R&RLA. Quite optimistic about the album now. | |

I agree the song has sexual connotations to it...I just don't see that gun meaning a limp dick is. the take home lesson here. It all seems more cohesive if it refers to a passive attitude towards adverse situations....a dopamine bath allowing u to make more logical and less brash/reactive choices. No wonder people think prince is a shallow dumbass if all they take away is he He's too sleepy to get a boner. And he's finding convoluted ways to blame impotence in a woman. Funny how the song hits #1 Indie wise in the UK. A few thoughts. It's been 30 years for some of us listening to Prince. Part of the experience is being baffled w the way he chooses songs 2 release, how he constructs tunes & lyrics / titles he uses. This is why I love Prince & his musical endeavor. He remains miss-understood & intriguing. While they should not be overly Entertained, people who regularly dismiss new music after one or two listens reveal the shallow depth at which they approach art...at surface level. To date, I still do not know the origin of "pretzelbodylogic." I will research the org & elsewhere. Prince: u r loved...thx for keeping us grateful with so much music. I cannot wait to see U soon. i liked most everything he released last year, from the solo tracks to the instrumentals with 3rdeyegirl. the only track i didn't care for at all was fixurlifeup and this one is even worse on repeated listening. but i have to hand it to prince, becausr eventhough i really hate the chorus of this song so bad that it might actually turn out the least favorit prince song for me in over ten or more years, i am constantly singing it, lol. and then i have to kick myself because i am singing this but i totally hate it. So it does get stuck in your head  and true love lives on lollipops and crisps | |
