Since Prince is now a member of the Academy... ...how do you think he'll vote? I assume voting for the Oscars is OK with the JWs. Here's my guesses for the big categories (my guess of Prince's vote): Picture - 12 Years a Slave Actress - Cate Blanchett, Blue Jasmine Actor - Matthew McConaughey Supporting Actress - Lupita Nyong'o Supporting Actor - Michael Fassbender, 12 Years a Slave Director - Steve McQueen Animated - The Wind Rises Original Screenplay - Her Adapted Screenplay - 12 Years a Slave Documentary - 20 Feet From stardom Song - The Moon Song (Her) or Let It Go (Frozen). Definitely NOT U2, and probably not Pharrell. I think Prince likes broadway style musicals, and Let It Go fits that mode the best, although one of the songwriters was also behind The Book of Mormon, and I don't know what Prince thinks of that. | |

I had always assumed so too, but apparently you have to be nominated by an existing member then invited to join by the Board. So do you think Prince spent the holidays watching all the movies so he could vote? A couple of movies still have to get released over here (so I can't really say I've watched them all...), but I'd like every voting member of the Academy to vote for Cate Blanchett and Jagten! | |
