1800 New Funk (home made alternate/Extended playlist)

I was listening to 1800 New Funk the other day and realised that most of the songs were available in either remix or alternate versions so decided to make a playlist of them and replaced any songs without alternate versions with other songs by the same artist. I titled it 1800 New Funk (Extension one).. I can recomend if you have the tracks it makes a much heavier funk album

1. MPLS (Remix)

2. Hollywood (Hey Man Smell My Finger LP Version)

3. Lovesign (Shock G's Silky Remix)

4. If I Love U 2 Night (Lil Cash Remix)

5. Well Done (By The Steeles)

6. Standing At The Alter (Extended

7. The Voice (Mavis Staples

8. Asswhopin a Trunk

9. Snowman (Nona Gaye)

10. MPLS (Reprise)

Are there any other albums you can do this with?

I always found it quite puzzling that:

- Hollywood was featured instead of one of the 2 singles (Martial Law and Paint The Whit House Black) even though it's got a real nice new jack swing vibe to it so I somehow understand the idea, but Paint The White House Black really was a killer and features numerous cool guests!

- 2gether was chosen as a single for Gold Nigga and even featured again here. I think Black MF In The House was a more punchy song, or maybe Johnny or even better Call The Law (even though WB could have maybe opposed this last one since they own the masters). The single had had zero airplay anyway since it was only sold at concerts, so it wouldn't have made much of a difference...

- You Will Be Moved was featured instead of one of the 2 singles (The Voice and Blood Is Thicker Than time). Still, YWBM is very catchy but The Voice would have been more in tone with the new jack swing vibe of the album (that or Kain't Turn Back). + it could have been the long version with Tony's rap on it.

Still, it's a great compilation and it really made my summer back in 94 biggrin

The extended version of "Standing At The Altar" is unbearable, with all those random/awkward loops...

I agree. Although, I think it is the best song he ever wrote for a female, the extended version is unbearable.
