Strangely, I have a good feeling about this. Also, I liked "Fixurlifeup", both musically and lyrically, and I would consider it great had it a real chorus to round it off.

[Edited 1/15/14 5:19am]

The first word of your post says so much. It's getting to the point where some of us are so bored with Prince's new music that we're surprised that we still care about it! wink And I agree with you about the chorus. The song would be better if he had worked a little harder on that, instead of just repeating the title a few times. [Edited 1/15/14 6:03am] [Edited 1/15/14 6:04am]

Donna Grantis Uncut magazine :
What really appealed to us was the idea of how bands would record back in the day. Like Led Zeppelin or Fleetwood Mac or Hendrix, where everyone's in the studio, everyone's playing together, and it's about the feel and the performance, rather than the digital sound that's popular now.

.

Hah. Fleetwood Mac were notorious studio residents, they lived there for aeons and did mountains of coke. Tusk cost one million dollars and was one of the most expensive albums ever at the time -- oh, and it was also the first ever recorded in a digital format.

.

But of course such facts do not comply to the mythical BS Prince comes up with, so instead he promotes a romantic picture which has got ZILCH to do with reality.

.

Hendrix? http://www.8notes.com/bio...endrix.asp

.

.

I mean, I've known this for decades. Dude named one of his albums after the studio he recorded it in (which he had built).

.

This album is a different style and direction from Purple Rain. But, in terms of how guitar-heavy it is, if you like Purple Rain, then this album is rockin'.

.

Such BS.

.

I've heard 3rd Eye Girl, and they are no Revolution. And shame of them for thinking they are.

.

Problem here is nearly 4 year wait, fans will be expecting something that can match up to his greatest work. If your waiting around for Prince or whomever to release something that will change your life, move on look to Jesus. If I get 7 solid good songs and a few greats I'll be happy and enjoy them for what it is...likely a solid rock album with no bull. Remains to be seen but one thing, I still believe Prince has the potential to make one of those albums that shakes the foundation. Never stopped believing.

I'm happy if it's half as good as Lotusflow3r but I don't have any high expectations, I'll just wait and see

Considering the known output of 3rd Eye Girl, that is just pathetic. It is crystal clear these girls and P are utterly unaware of how shiteous their output has been so far; you'd think that not managing to sell out a modest club tour (even after halving prices and giving away tickets for free) would have given them a clue, but noooooo. Anyone not being happy with an album of Prince refering back to Led Zep and Hendrix and leaving, as it seems, his overpolished overproducted crap of the last years, is out of their mind.

Did she explain why the album (whatever the format) is not out yet?

Because that is the main issue.

The longer it takes, the more 'production' could be added.

Keep in mind, Udo, that Donna is just a band member. She probably doesn't even know the answer to questions like that. It's Prince who rules by the old saying by Napoleon: I alone, only I know what I must do!

the music is aiight....but the lyrics and vocals male me wanna hurl. im exaggerating of course....but bleh. most of the other 3eg stuff i dig. new and good inspiration usually serves prince well. donna got some decent chops. i dont like her booty...but shes not a butt model, so it works. hannah is SHONUFF prettier than than phil. and pounds pretty damn good. i seen some utoob clips of ida phunkin it up. new people with new, dare i say younger, perspectives will help. the new and young ones tend to...cuz Prince seems to have a handle on most older, common, and aged perspectives that he'd care to.

yes...

and it was SPECTACULAR!

tho, to your point, i think if he sits on it/fiddels with it too much, it'll blow. the Plectrum vid/mp3 probes that a recording of a one off performance after some rehersal can be supurb. i think it'd be great if the whole thing was in that vein...with the live performanfe that the cut was culled from included. It would be easily achieved as well. also....it'd shut beyonces dumb but up.

lol My thoughts exactly! I'm still excited though. Saw them live this past spring and I'm curious to hear how their recorded ouptut compares to their live performance. Admittedly, Groovy Potential is the only recent song I'm consistently playing, but who knows if an album of 3rdeyegirl songs (vs. singles) will make a difference. I do really love the Plectrum Electrum vid with a close-up of Prince playing guitar. cool

Yes I know.

That is my point of concern.

In that light it is strange to see that Donna does have no idea of a release schedule: not even a quarter is mentioned. ('early q3 of 2014 is what P strives for')

We do not know if the album is 101% finished.

So it's very very vague still.

"Fix Ur Life Up" actually sounds like there would be quite a lot of fiddling in the studio involved with that one. All the new "rock" tracks have a rather pleasant, "analog-heavy" sound to them, so I'm not complaining about that aspect. However, any amount of tinkering on them with a ProTools style system can provide the sentiment that something unnatural is going on with the mixes.

Prince also continues to favour mixes where the different elements sometimes stick out a bit too much and in overall that works against the sentiment of "drive" in them. Usually I wish his vocals would be mixed differently. Just put some more reverb on them bro, ok?

Also the mix should sound ok on a $300 per component system versus a $3000 per component (or worse) that he is auditioning on.

(Europeans please use a €300 per component figure)

I wouldn't mind the promise that PR fans will like the stuff on the 3EG release if Prince included a couple of proper and well done 'anthems' on the album. But, if the material from 3EG in 2013 is any indication of what the album will sound like, I'll probably not bother buying it lol. I've heard all the 3EG stuff, and downloaded one of the songs, but just find them so terribly bland. The band is ok. And, of course, Prince is a genius. But if he thought 3 young white girls and seeming attempts at clinging to pop culture relevance (New Girl, anyone?) would somehow be a muse for him, so far I haven't heard it.

Hope springs eternal.

After hearing "the Breakdown" and "FunkNRoll" (live Stockholm 2013) I disagree. Then again, take "Fury" its 100X better live than studio and I feel that way about many of his rock songs - maybe he does this to fit with the production of a cd as a whole - 3121 slick sounding. "the Breakdown" is classic. I just hope the execution is good, raw, not too overproduced if it is I hope for a soundboard release of it from Stockholm or another show.

What are you outraged about today? CNN has not told you yet?

1) How old is Ida Nielsen?

2) If your goal is to "cling to pop culture relevance", then New Girl is not the choice you make for a guest star appearance. Not to mention Prince is still extremely relevant in pop culture. He no longer needs to even release albums or singles to remain relevant.

and although you were addressing only a fraction of the phrase actually uttered, even then you still didn't understand what she said. here is what ms. grantis actually said:

But, in terms of how guitar-heavy it is, if you like Purple Rain, then this album is rockin'.

please, do yourself a favor and read more closely. this time note the difference between her actual words and your hate-heavy comment. when you do, you will understand that the new album itself is not being compared to purple rain, but rather, the guitar heavy style of the album is being compared to Purple Rain.

What an awesome response to Bart! Shame is he won't read it. He has become a troll. He dives into any discussion on the first few pages and then is gone again. He hardly ever responds to anyone who challenges him. I wouldn't even be surprised if he was on a retainer from Warner Bros to diss anything and everything Prince has done since leaving them!

Yes Bart has a reason to hate Prince - he had his (rather good) fan website closed down by Prince's lawyers. After investing so much love in Prince he was attacked. HOWEVER - it has been at least 15 years since that! Bart really needs to get over it, go away and enjoy his life and not spend any energy or time focused on something that is clearly so negative to him! He needs to LETITGO (sorry couldn't resist).

'I loved him then, I love him now and will love him eternally. He's with our son now.' Mayte 21st April 2016 = the saddest quote I have ever read! RIP Prince and thanks for everything.
