Dirty Mind japanese remastered WOW! I know this has been discussed and the CD has been out for awhile but WOW! I just got it and I've been playing it non-stop for a week. It's pure genius. It's almost like listening to the album for the first time again. I don't know what they did but everything is more focused and clear, especially the background vocals. I didn't care for the mix when the album came out in 1980 even though I loved the album. If you don't have this remastered version its a MUST HAVE! This just reaffirms how much of genius Prince is. gonna buy all the other remastered albums

I thoight the only remasters were the vinyl versions, and not even remastered from premastered original tapes but from the original masters themselves. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

YES! thats the one. I'm totally blown away by the sound quality. I know Prince was trying get a certain grit when he originally mixed the album but nothing can touch this mix. Listening to it on modern surround equipment makes it even better. This is a must have for any Prince music lover

OK, so for one thing remastering has got nothing to do with remixing, these are 2 very different processes and you can't like this go on a public forum and say that it's remastered then that it's remixed and that it's the same thing. Anyway I've done some research and not only these CD's are not remastered nor remixed (this I already knew) but SMH-CD technology is contested. Its conceptors argue that it improves the sound quality, its detractors say that the sound is just different, in the sense that SHM technology gives a "warmer", more "analogic" texture to the music, while some even say there's no difference at all between SMH and normal CD's and that a non-remastered SMH CD sounds "better" only because it's... louder (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Loudness_war). So while I'm glad you enjoy your SMH CD's, you must stop claiming hysterically that they're remasters and/or remixes because they're not, and you oughta wonder whether they really sound better or just louder. It's also noteworthy to know that, while most people will claim a FLAC file sounds better than its MP3 counterpart when they know what's what, they will usually fail a blindtest between both formats. Therefore, it's very possible that you feel this CD sounds better just because you were convinced that it was in remaster in the first place. What really sounded better was the vinyl remaster of some years ago. That was brilliant.
