Jay Leno and Prince...did they have a fallout? I'm certainly not the first to notice that Prince hasn't played Leno since the whole Conan O'Brien/Tonight Show fiasco (that, IMO, has stained Leno's career forever). I found it interesting that when Jimmy Fallon told Leno the whole ping-pong with Prince story, Leno didn't even mention anything about Prince. The whole "he's a friend of the show" never came up at all, etc. Does anyone know if Prince and Leno had a documented fallout? Was there any bad blood after Prince's performances during Leno's first "retirement" back in 2009? Prince played for Leno's farewell, and he meant it Jay probably should have stayed retired from the Tonight Show instead of elbowing his way back on. The oldest rule in show biz... "leave them wanting more". Hopefully Fallon will breathe new life into that show, and Jay can go do something else. "So fierce U look 2night, the brightest star pales 2 Ur sex..."

As a Conan fan I like to think that there's something about it. I especially loved Prince's response in an interview (probably around Welcome 2 Australia) about 360 deals that "they're great... for me to poop on". Also after The Tonight Show debacle Prince has appeared on George Lopez, Jimmy Kimmel and Jimmy Fallon - I don't remember any other late night talk shows appearances before 2009, except for some Letterman shows a long time ago.
And I still hope he appears on Conan one day!

I doubt there's any bad blood. I honestly think that it comes down to demographics. Leno's audience is simply not Prince's target market anymore. Prince wants the Fallon/Kimmel crowd. On a simpler level, Leno isn't "cool". Fallon is the hot show right now, and add The Roots and it's unbeatable.
