I don't get one thing - why are there two of them? I mean - wouldn't one symbol be enough? wink

I assumed the smaller versison is linked to the mic itself for when it is detaced from the stand, for hand held singing?

I disagree. I think it's way too much. If it had just been the smaller of the two designs on the stand, it would actually have looked kinda cool.

The big one just looks really tacky. Two of them, and it just looks laughable. doh!

Prince played a Trio of Special East Coast Shows on Dec 27/28 & 29th at the Mohegan Sun Arena in Connecticut. It was a memorable "MasterPiece" per4mance that will go down in history! He also unveiled his iconic new symbol mic. That added a already royal appearance to the unforgetable night......

I'm a massive fan, have been for 27 years. I like most of his output. I even like his style most of the time. I even like Planet Earth FFS. However, if you're trying to convince people to agree with you, you really don't go about these things the right way and just make us all a bit bloody tetchy. Now, it wasn't a masterpiece, it won't particularly go down in history anymore than the numerous other shows he's put out recently and the 'iconic' new symbol mic, is hardly friggin iconic now, is it? In reality, it closely resembles the kind of half arsed woodwork project I would deliver in 1986. I was shit at woodwork by the way.

[Edited 1/10/14 2:36am]

I agree 1000% percent, been a fan since pretty much 1999 album which was the first album i bought with my own money as a kid, then researched the albums i missed and been a fan ever since, seen the man 79 times in concert, have met him and the NPG back with MAYTE 3 times when they were playing the Palladium in NYC (not there anymore), though i didnt go to the shows mentione above i did see all the MSG shows a few years back and SORRY they were great but nothing was memorable, i have issues with calling everything memorable for an artist that to me is still avoiding 95% of his new material, part of my issues with many of his shows the last decade is the constant laundry list of HITS, its almost like a nostalgic act, which is what Tavis Smiley asked him about way back in 98 when he first interviewed him at BET and he said your critics say "you are becoming like a RB Legends tour" and thats really what its become, i love the man, he is an amazing musician, and yes still does great albums here and there but shit, shake it up on the road, you have almost 15 albums the last 20 years and you barely have played 2% of what is on them at shows.

In order for Prince 2 b a successful touring act. He has to cater toward his CASUAL fans & focus on the HITS! Those are the ones that are going to buy the bulk of his tickets. Not the fickle complain all the time CATTY diehards! He knows he will NEVER be able to totally satisfy their spoiled ways....Every band can't play all the songs to his liking in his vast catalog!! That is why he plays Dj in his karaoke segments(which Eye love by the way).

STOP thinking Prince can move the earth and the world! He is only one person. His band segments to me are very entertaining & he is trying to give a complete show where everyone gets their shine in the band, Not just him...

eye will ALWAYS think of prince like a "ACT OF GOD"! N another realm. eye mean of all people who might of been aliens or angels.if found out that prince wasn't of this earth, eye would not have been that surprised. R.I.P. prince

Be real, Prince can step on a stage and do what he wants, any artist can do this that has been around, its got nothing to do with moving the world or the earth. Prince has done tours where he didnt "cater" as you put it, first of all when you buy a ticket it entitles you to see the show, there is NO guarantee you get to hear anything you want plain and simple, just like he may never play a new song, he may never play a hit, if someone is gonna cry because Say Elton John doesnt play "Your Song" at one show, so be it, turn the radio on its played more now than 50 years ago when it was a hit. And im not saying he cant play HITS all artists play hits at their shows, but there is a thing called balance and PRINCE RARELY has shown any respect to his new stuff at all, he even said himself he could have played Emancipation back in 1996-97 straight through (which was a lie because the band didnt know how to) he in turn played 4 of the 36 songs at less than half the shows he did, now thats all im saying, i could care less what he plays when i pay, BECAUSE im stating a fact about how he has conducted his live work the last decade after "Rainbow Children" One Nite Alone tour which was MEMORABLE, and the band all SHINED, that fact is all im stating, its not a complaint because i said was i cant call something MEMORABLE that is the same stuff he has been rolling out, thats a criticism, the shows are good and he is an amazing musician, but learn to seperate that. U can just not like something an artist does, i defended PRINCE up and down over albums that ppeople on this forum were CATTY about as you put it. But memorable TO ME is something im not going to see done again, and YES to ME he has been repeating himself in the LIVE arena sorry.

I'm a long time fan--- since I was 14 but this is easily my least favorite getup, hair, and mic stand. A smaller symbol would've been ok to make a splash. But one that's more than half his size??

Looking forward to the day when the afro goes bye-bye, or at least gets shaped.

Not my cup of tea...but to each his own.

By the way, his gettting wheeled out on a dolly was super cool!!

I disagree! Prince has never let his band shine this much since the Lovesexy tour. His band is like their own artist within a band. With their own albums, which he has lent his expertise to. I guess Eye can say mainly the background singers. But they seem more closer & more of a unit then his other bands. He really cares about them in a humble way...Its reminiscent of the James Brown Revue...U have to remember Prince is getting older & has to pace himself more now...

70s-90 fan de lurking. Saw him final night of Montreux Jazz 2013.

Can't figure out this new look or mic stand. Back in the day, his Lovesexy stage was the talk of the industry. Today it's a an edgy look w/no edgy material and a weird/awkward mic stand?

Why do I check in anymore?!
