EARLY PRINCE 1978-1984 APPRECIATION!

So I am putting together a Prince & friends compilation THE EARLY YEARS. 1978-1984. This would entail everything from For You to Purple Rain including The Time, Vanity 6, Dez , Apollonia, and Sheila E. I would like playlists suggestions and LOTS OF PICS OF THE ERA TO INSPIRE!

When you say "entail everything" do you literally mean you want playlists with all the songs from that era? If so, I'd say just put the songs in chronological order and don't distinguish between Prince and the Proteges. In other words, The Time (self titled album) would fall between Dirty Mimd and Controversy.

If you're looking for playlists of songs chosen from the period that fit together well and are our favorites, then here's mine:

Soft & Wet
Get It Up
Crazy You
I'm Yours
I Wanna Be Your Lover
Nasty Girl
Sexy Dancer
Why You Wanna Treat Me So Bad
When We're Dancing Close and Slow
Head
Cool
Uptown
The Stick
Oh Baby
When You Were Mine
Sexuality
Controversy
Do Me Baby
If A Girl Answers, Don't Hang Up
The Walk
777-9311
Let's Work
1999
Little Red Corvette
DMSR
Glamorous Life
The Bird
Let's Go Crazy
Take Me With U
The Beautiful Ones
Jungle Love
When Doves Cry
Purple Rain

Ok, there are way too many good songs for me to come up with a playlist off the top of my head. The one above is just a start.

(For some reason the photo doesn't show up in the quote. Oh well.)

So hard to choose! But that's the fun of it. I would add the following songs to Controversey99's list:

.

    • Bambi
    • I Feel For You (Prince's 1979 version or Chaka Khan's 1984 version--or BOTH)
    • Still Waiting
    • Dirty Mind
    • Wet Dream - Vanity 6
    • Delerious
    • Irresistable Bitch
    • Horny Toad
    • Computer Blue
    • I Would Die 4 U
    • Baby I'm A Star
    • 17 Days
    • Erotic City (Extended Version)
    • Sex Shooter - Apollonia 6
    • Ice Cream Castles - The Time
    • The Belle of St. Mark - Sheila E.
    • Be Your Man - Jesse Johnson
    • I Want My Girl - Jesse Johnson
    • Can You Help Me - Jesse Johnson

.

Tried to put them in chronological order for you but it's off the top of my head. (Personally, I like mixing it all up.)

Ooh. You got me listening to The Belle of St. Mark now. Bless U. smile

N-joy putting together your compilation!

I adore "The Belle of St. Mark." Almost as much as "Blue Limousine."
No confusion, no tears. No enemies, no fear. No sorrow, no pain. No ball, no chain.

"Blue Limousine" is the JAM. Brenda was tearin' it up.

P&C: Be sure to put that one on your compilation as well. cool
