Of course it was. It was promoted, it had media attention. It was attached to an NFL team. All Prince's own work. Don't make excuses.

I think an instrumental version would be sublime. I found a program that allowed me to reduce Prince's vocal somewhat, but not entirely. It gives the Prince vocal a ghostly sound, and brings the Lisa backing vocals up to the front. If anyone knows a way to remove Prince's vocal entirely, please let me know.

In my top 20 Prince songs a perfect closer for Parade album.Also, the lyrics are excellent.

It's not exactly what you asked for but you can still enjoy the gorgeous progression and harmony from this rendition.

Eye know!! That is where Eye first got the idea from. He should do the whole song on acoustic guitar. In fact Eye would love 4 him to do a whole acoustic guitar or piano set concert. Prince gets a lot of props 4 his guitar playing. But he is a BEAST on keyboard!!! His keyboard sound is what crafted his signature sound in the 80's....
