* As a Black Nationalist, I never proclaimed President Obama as the savior of African Americans, especially given his Wall Street connections before becoming president and given the fact that the first thing he did as President was cut funding to HBCUs (Historically Black Colleges and Universities). I only add this information to show my objectivity and that I am not one that is inclined to call someone racist just because they don't agree with me. Also, since I concentrate my efforts more on local grassroots development of African American educational, economic, and social institutions--such as job training and development, literacy, sex education programs, and general education development--I tend not to keep score or watch over the left or right as I did eight to ten years ago. As such, six or seven years ago I could have easily given you the examples that you desire because I kept them as ammunition. But, now, my energy and efforts are focused more on creating/developing sovereign/independent local institutions that allow African Americans to control their own destiny. With that said, here are three examples: All of the people I mentioned have supported voter ID, which both the Tea Party and Republican Party have admitted are direct attacks on African American voting because, among several issues, many lower income African Americans have a history of moving because of renting and many do not change their address on their ID or continue to vote in their old neighborhoods. I also know this because I use to work with voter registration for years. Now, to be honest, I think it is just damn lazy and trifling for anyone between the ages of 18 and 50 not to have a photo ID, but that does not mean it is not a racist policy, especially since the reported voter ID fraud in America equates to less than five percent of voter fraud. So, since ninety-five percent of American voter fraud is based on other issues, why spend millions of dollars to pursue the cause of less than five percent of American voter fraud? Secondly, all of those I mentioned have been against Attorney General Eric Holder's plan to change the discriminatory sentencing laws regarding power and rock cocaine, even though every report over the past twenty years shows that the sentencing laws disproportionately target African Americans, giving African Americans larger sentences even when they are in possession of fewer amounts of drugs because crack receives a larger sentence than cocaine. And, finally, each of them support New York City's "Stop and Frisk" law as well as similar such laws around the country that allow police officers not only to racially profile--which O'Reilly, Beck, and Hannity all stated is "good police policy"--but to harass African Americans without any type of justification other than "they look suspicious," but "suspicious" has never been defined in written policy or in court. I'm sorry I don't have more for you, but, again, I've been spending more of my time developing independent/sovereign African American communities than keeping score with the trends of white racists. However, if any of the people I have mentioned have changed their position on any of these issues, please correct me at once. So, allow me to end like I tried to end before. I find it incomprehensible that you or anyone else who claims to be knowledgeable of the people that I mentioned not to know that they hold these and other similar discriminatory positions, which is why I found it a waste of time to continue. Again, I am not trying to be flippant, but I don't know how you would need me to cite these positions for you if you are knowledgeable of these people because these are some of their core principles.

With news of Prince doing some real, honest to God traditional promotion for a new album, I expected to be met with a long thread about how Prince was finally getting it right in terms of setting up his stall. SILLY ME!! Of course the thread would have instantly spiralled into bickering and race war arguments of all things. . .ORG ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Of those of you who watch the show, if you please, please share with the Org anything leading up to the Prince episode that is or may be related to it. Thanks in advance! What?

TLDR... Just kidding. I read every word. Since you took the time, I will too. As far as voter ID, I'm white and have lived 26 places in 43 years, and I have to show my ID when I vote. I forgot it once, had to go home to get it and come back. I'm glad you think that people over 18 should have an ID but I don't see that this is a racist policy. The other policies you mentioned are unconstitutional and unfair to all races and I agree more skewed against blacks than whites and so I don't disagree with you on them. If these are the reasons that you are calling FOX racist then I see what you mean. Thanks for clarifying. Good to know you have clear reasons rather than the simplistic, innacurate and insulting ones I hear on MSNBC repeatedly, which really do amount to racism being the only reason anyone would be against the policies of the Obama Administration. By the way, I never claimed to be "knowledgeable of the people" you mentioned. Thanks for the clarification 1725topp, and sorry to everyone else for such a heavy discussion in the middle of such a frivolous topic...

That did indeed seem racist. And hilariously skewered by TDS, so thanks for that, Bart! I guess I've heard MSNBC claim everyone who is against the policies of the Obama Administration must be racist so much that I've become desensitized to the word "racist". Don't hate your neighbors. * Just become something is "traditional" doesn't make it a good idea, and Prince's appearance on this mediocre program is an awesomely bad idea because the program is so mediocre, which was my initial point. But, silly me to think that I have a right to say that even though other people obviously have the right to post hundreds of threads of why Prince has lost it or haven't had it since the 80s. Maybe if I would have used his appearance on this awesomely bad program as an excuse to join the people who've spent the past ten years bemoaning how Prince has lost it, then my response would have been more acceptable.

I've never seen the show so I'll bow to your more indepth knowledge of it.
I do know that just like when he appeared on American Idol or the Superbowl, the show might be a load of old shit, but it reaches a huge audience outside of his ever-dwindling own, and that is the whole point of promotion. It's not the show that really matters, it's what Prince does with the exposure it gives him.

There are 2 black dudes on the show this season! The Marlon brother who started out as Winston for the pilot, has come back as an old friend. On the show, he is trying to date CeCe, Schmidt's ex (the model).

* I don't know if New Girl can be placed in the same ratings or popularity category as American Idol or the Super Bowl so I don't know if appearing on New Girl will give him the same exposure as American Idol, which I never watch but realize its popularity, or the Super Bowl, which, as a sports fan, I always watch. But, even when he appeared on American Idol, I wondered how many of its viewers would be inspired to purchase a Prince cd, even after viewing his performance. (The only reason I didn't wonder the same about his Super Bowl appearance is because the half-time Super Bowl show has become the "stage" for "legendary icons" or "current icons" regardless of having a cd to sell.) And, in all three of these cases, New Girl, American Idol, and the Super Bowl, I don't know if Prince is the type of artist whose work, current or former, translates well to its audiences, which is bland, middle of the road, mainstream America. And, even today, I don't see Prince making bland, middle of the road, mainstream music, though many on this site would disagree, so I'm not sure that being exposed to New Girl's audience will be helpful unless the new album is going to be bland, middle of the road, mainstream music, which, for me, would be different from the music we received during 2013, which I liked a great deal. I hope that I'm wrong, but I don't think that the majority New Girl's audience will be interested in a new Prince cd, and that Prince will be better served promoting his new cd by preforming on morning and late night talk shows and at a select number of nationally distributed radio programs. Ultimately, I think that the best promotion for a new cd is putting Prince in a situation (television or radio) where a mass audience can see/hear Prince kick ass, playing his new music because so much of America has a dated or limited notion of who Prince is or what Prince is that only performances like those at the Rock-n-Roll Hall of Fame or the Super Bowl, but with new music, can challenge those dated or limited notions that so many have about who or what Prince is and inspire that audience to purchase his new music. So, New Girl may be a start, but I see it is a misstart or misstep and am hoping for better promotion over the next three months.

while i dont have the same appreciation for his new music (except for the breakdown at smuk fest which is the best thing he has done in a long while) i think you are forgetting the ole showbiz standard practice of making sure the opening band is kind of boring .. prince learned his lesson with the time .. he's not gonna let anyone upstage him .. now I do consider songs like fixurlife up, which was confirmed on the new record, to be pretty bland, but I agree they are not michael bolton bland, so the point is, prince will pick a super mediocre show to appear on to make his moment stand out more. its just typical showbiz marketing. I have had the good fortune in the last couple years to see some bigger named acts and believe me ... the openers were mind numbingly bad on every occasion .. I always wondered why till I knew.

* I understand what you are saying, but since I haven't had the same overwhelmingly unpleasant experience with opening acts I don't know if I can agree with that being the reason he's appearing on such a mediocre program. At least half the time the opening acts of shows that I have experienced have been really good, and twenty-five percent of the time the opening act was solid, and, of course, there is the other twenty-five percent of the time when there were acts, like Vanity Six, that were god awful. So, I would think that in a case where one is promoting a new cd one would want to align oneself or associate oneself with a program that is somehow cutting edge if not the standard crassly popular level of American Idol or the Super Bowl. Maybe this show is known for having a "hip" audience, but I'm not sure how such a mediocre program can attract a "hip" audience. I could see the Big Bang's audience being more hip, and that's not a Big Bang diss. * And, of course, we disagree on the quality of Prince's new music, but maybe if somehow Prince will play a song during the episode that might work. But, unless they are at a bar or something, it seems that even that moment may be more cheesy than funky.

HUGE deal! BIG ratings!!!!!! Its a gigantic deal for any show to get that spot right after the Super Bowl. Because of the millions & millions that are already tuned in. Plus the promotion is the BEST U can have in primetime. Eye'm sure Prince will be a part of the commercials advertising the build up of his MEGA sitcom debut!!!!!It definitely will outshine this publicity Beyonce is getting.... will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"!
