two days ago i actually spent about 2 hours reading a thread on the

tori amos forum, dedicated to her upcoming album with the horrible

title "unrepenting geraldines".

you should have seen what her fans had to say about the albums or

tours she's had post-Venus. man it was brutal

but the thing is, people actually agreed. even her rabid fans were at

most of these points in agreement with 'casual' fans.

her output has been shit compared to her stellar work up to and incl

"To Venus and Back". then she released shit album after shit album.

and it's not just the Tori boards. it's most musicians.

people just discuss releases, and they either like them or hate them,

they laugh their heads off over tori's horrible album art the past 10

years, her plastic surgery etc etc.

what you don't see on those forums is rabid fans defending each and

every bad release, photo, wig etc etc. people are pretty much like:

"yeah, that was shit, wasn't it?" or they simply say "well, whatever,

i still liked it".

only on the org is there something actually wrong with YOU whenever

you say that something prince does is childish, spitefull or just plain

old bad.

Sarcasm is sense of humor though, which I think is the common denominator between most Prince fans.

But I get your point, I think there're still many fans here who are content with some of his outputs. They might not post here as much, but they are there,,,,,hopefully

Well if you have to say maybe then it shows that you really havn't got the joke either. Had you said it was a joke and that it was funny you could defend it. Instead you say maybe because you are not sure and there in lies the problem... If the material is so ambiguous as to be potentialy a joke and potentialy about gay people coming from a dirty world and not having a place in eternity then it's failed either way. It's failed as a joke (in which case it's Prince's humor that is in question) or it's failed as a lyric for being bigoted and uneducated... So take your pick which one.

Humour doesn't always offend sometimes you can be the but of the joke, But only if the joke is clever and clear.

By the way I've been having fun all year having a blast enjoying Prince's new material staying up for live streams and generaly loving the random approach to distribution..... Alot of people who had the "humor failure" about this track are fans that have been enjoying this year but just have a problem with this one example of his work

So get it in preportion it's not about a humor fail it's about a piece of art failing to succesfully convey anything, It happens sometimes and with an artist as prolific as Prince it's bound to happen, It's happened before and it will happen again no big deal.
