What do you think Prince thought of The Times Condensate album??

Such a shame Jesse seems to have a habit of sabotaging his own career, because The Original 7even really pulled it out of the bag with Condensate. I loved how they put "The Band Formerly Known As The Time" on the cover as well. lol

Would love to know what Prince thought of this album....

I guess I don't agree with you on this one. For me, Condensate is somewhat like 20ten: a weak effort to bring the Minneapolis sound back. I think Prince should have been more disturbed by what fDeluxe did...

Condensate is a great album. It's consistent from start to finish, something which Prince hasn't managed in well over a decade. It's a shame Jesse torpedoed the project via Facebook, sounding very much like a sulky toddler who has somehow discovered his mother's account login details. Whilst both of these jokers could do with a slap for their, frankly, shoddy behaviour ultimately Jam and Lewis' failure to fully commit themselves to the O7 has proved them to have been entirely correct in their actions. Very sad.

He thought it would be a debacle and it was.

When eye go 2 a Prince concert or related event it's all heart up in the house but when eye log onto this site and the miasma of bitchiness is completely overwhelming!

Was probably as disappointed as i was. It was pretty weak; i couldn't even bring myself to purchase it and i have all The Time albums. FDeluxe, on the other hand, dropped a jewel. Prince should be proud of their effort. The Time squandered theirs, and really, theres too much talent in that organization for them to drop a weak joint.

The guys have said that Prince sent them a message saying he liked the album. I think he has always known that band is capable of dropping incredible music. All indications are that he was entertained and inspired by the album. He apparently sees a bit if humor in the fact that he retains legal control over some aspects of the band. Prince and O7 talked about doing various things together, but Jesse bailed before those conversations had a chance to bear fruit. I am 100 percent postive that we will never see Jesse Johnson and Morris Day together again, sadly, but Condensate is as strong a product as anything any of those guys ever did. Prince included.

He probably dropped it under his bike and rolled over it.
Prince did an interview with a woman at Record World. They talked about whatever, then he asked her: "Does your pubic hair go up to your navel?" At that moment, we thought maybe we shouldn't encourage him to do interviews.

I agree, much more consistent and fun than any of Prince's albums of the last decade. I wish he would let Jam & Lewis produce an album for him.
RIP Prince: thank U 4 a funky Time...

lol I wanted to like it but I just couldn't. Strawberry Lake is the one I came closest to liking. It's just not The Time to me without the Jamie Starr tracks/production.

It's a nice album. Very good, not great, but I still enjoy it. However, I have no idea what Prince thinks of it, which means that I probably shouldn't be responding then.

This album came and went because no singles came out after "Trendin" and the tour didn't happen..

I wonder if things might have been different if Condensate had been released on a major label.A few months before it came out, there was word that L.A. Reid wanted to sign the guys and release it on whatever label he was overseeing at the time (Arista?).Songs like "If I Was Ur Man" and "Faithful" had alot of hit potential.

Condensate is TIGHT. The O7 stayed faithful to the Minneapolis sound and they kept in the flavours from full range of The Time's preceding work. Don't see how it's possible Prince woudn't dig this album. l think he's proud of his boys and pleased with the music--and rightfully so.

To summarize this thread,

basically anyone who cares what Prince thinks, thinks that Prince thought exactly what they themselves thought about "Condensate."

OR... he contacted The Time and said he liked it.

Thanks!

We would have to ask Prince. But I think it was a good album. It would have been a hit if it where 1993.
