june 3rd 1986 When I look back on the track listing of the June 86" "Dream Factory" track listing I could truly sacrifice (as much as I love) "Sign O 'The Times" for "Power Fantastic". Reason being, when you look @ the June configuration, it screams of a overall complete album, and not to mention, "Teacher,Teacher" would've been an AWESOME FIRST SINGLE for that album, it has that "Manic Monday" feel to it IMO...what do u guys think?

I think that there is probably a pretty awesome Dream Factory in one of the earlier, non-final configurations of that album, prior to so much of what would end up on SOTT being there.

Power Fantastic is the zenith of Prince's creative output IMO.

Wouldn't that be the zenith of Wendy and Lisa's creative output, then? According to Princevault they created the track and Prince wrote new lyrics and sang while getting no official credit.

Lots of people here on the org are W&L fans rather than Prince fans. The wooh is on the one!

Do you think the SOTT material brought Dream Factory down? The wooh is on the one!

...and your point would be what, exactly?

Paulludvig doesn't like them much nor the Revolution it seems, I could be wrong though

That it's not surprising that people on the org would pick a W&L song as their favourite 'Prince'-song. In many ways they are more W&L fans than Prince fans. The wooh is on the one!

Apologies, typo: Same OLD B.S. Meaning this stuff about people being W&L fans and not Prince fans, it's silly talk.

If you prefer the songs written by W&L, and some people do, then it's fair to say it's W&L creativty you enjoy. Prince just happens to sing on some of their songs The wooh is on the one!

That isn't what I said.
I don't know why it always has to be an either/or situation. Prince works with other people, it doesn't mean we have to differentiate between more collaborative efforts and where he's cloistered in the studio stinking it up by himself. Personally I think Prince shines the brightest when he's got other people around him to bounce off of. Regardless of who it is in the band or in the studio, the name on the sleeve is Prince and he's the central focus and vision. People aren't seeing 3EG shows because these three random chicks play really great, it's the word Prince that is selling tickets.

It's not because it's a Lisa Coleman composition (not a W&L song) but because it's a wonderful piece.
Even band members and Susan Rogers left that recording feeling chills

Yup. Wonderful piece! I think it's Coleman's best song. I don't think it's Prince's best song though. I believe Prince is at his absolutely best when he works solo. But I guess that is a minority opinion around here. The wooh is on the one!

My favorite configuration. I once made a CD of this and used to play it in the car all the time. I think it flows well as an album.
