Did Prince had anything to do with producing or engineering Bad song? I was reading this article: http://www.vibe.com/artic...story-pg-3
Bruce Swedien says: "When Prince left the studio after we were working on “Bad” he decided to pull out of it. He left the control room and as he turned around to go he said to us all, “Don’t worry, this record will be a big hit even if I’m not on it.”
Does he have anything to do with the song? Like, musically speaking?

No. AFAIK he was offered to be on it but declined. She Believed in Fairytales and Princes, He Believed the voices coming from his stereo

Look for the Chris Rock interview where Prince talks about the song. He says they asked him to duet with Michael. He said about the first line, your butt is mine, that he ain't singing it to Michael and Michael sure isn't singing it to him, right there we have a problem. RIP

I guess he was invited to the studio to give a listen to the basic tracks before making a decision to contribute or not, but obviously he wasn't involved in the creation of that song at any point. I guess we'd know about it if he had, since we know he was offered to be on it anyway. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/

I'm sure that was just bravado on Prince's part in the interview and he was much more diplomatic at the actual meeting.

It's a funny story though, lol.
The song is a little bit too childish for Prince at that time anyway. "I'm bad, I'm bad, you know it! Sharmon!". It hardly compares with SOTT or IIWYG. “The man who never looks into a newspaper is better informed than he who reads them, inasmuch as he who knows nothing is nearer to truth than he whose mind is filled with falsehoods and errors.”

They should have asked P to co-write something with MJ, then maybe he'd have done it. It's a pity MJ turned Wouldn't You Love To Love Me down, though. I can understand MJ not wanting it for the album but then it could have been a nice b-side. A COMPREHENSIVE PRINCE DISCOGRAPHY (work in progress ^^): https://sites.google.com/...scography/
