That shiite at the beginning sounds like "Boys of Summer" by Don Henley. That is NOT a good thing. Otherwise I dig it a lot.

At first, something bothered me about this remix. After giving it some thought, I used audio editing software to make an adjustment: I took the beginning of the song and moved it to 2:42 in place of the first breakdown. I shaved 25 seconds off the total running time (7:40, originally 8.05), but it works WAY better (in my opinion) to have the song begin with the man melody. I love so much more now.

I was just about to post the same thing biggrin

Glad I am not the only one who thinks it, confused myself when I started to play the track - thought I got the wrong one lol

Guess there are a lot of songs out there that sound similar to others, just listen to Phil Collins Sussudio razz

I did some research in my own archives, and this is what i found:

This version plus the new Remix of Batdance seem to come from a tape that was on sale some years ago on ebay. The tape was called "Batdance/Future/Trust" Remixes, dated 9/89.

The full content was given as:

1) Batdance (John Luongo Remix feat. Big Daddy Kane) (8:40)

2) Like A Prayer (Dub Beats) - Madonna (4:40) (*unreleased mix featuring Prince's "Skinny MF with the High Voice" sample)

3) I Could Never Take The Place of Your Man (ManMix 12" Remix) (7:58)

4) The Future (William Orbit Remix) (6:58)

5) Gotta Stop (Messin' About) (2:53)

6) Trust (12") (8:15)

7) Trust (Dub) (7:13)

8) Trust (7" w/ Intro Clap) (4:22)

9) Trust (7" w/ New Vocal EQ) (4:15)

Snippets of all the tracks were released on soundcloud by a user called jemmons then. but that account doesn't exist anymore.

Obviously also the two Remixes of Trust by Shep Pettibone that surfaced three months ago come from this tape. Gotta Stop seems to be the released Version, while tracks 2, 4, 8 & 9 are still not circulating.

I think this

4) The Future (William Orbit Remix) (6:58)

is actually the released cds.

the description said "the intro is slightly different than the official version" - although we cannot be sure about that. I obviously have never heard it...

Thanks, this is useful. I somehow completely missed the extended/dub versions of Trust. I now have them.

This mix of LAP has been circulating for years, I think it's on promos from the time so it's released.

Apparently "Like a prayer" (dub beats) was an officially released Madonna song. Quite simple to find actually wink

Great frikking outtake. Pisses all over Prince's output of the past 15+ years from great height.

Astonishing that such great quality outtakes are still "out there".

There is an "unofficial" CD out there with all mixes of "Trust" so tracks 8 and 9 are in circulation, although not online.

Shame the sound quality of the Trust mixes isn't better - and the 12"/Dub mixes were first in circulation a year go.

I honestly do not understand why some people can't find these recently leaked tracks. It took me all of 30 seconds with google.

Please stop orgnoting me asking for the link.

I would say it takes less time to do a search on the key words to find it then to ask someebody and wait for them to give you a link.

Also, I'm glad to help out someone I know, with whom I've communicated about Prince for years. However, if our first communication is a stranger asking me for a link, that's a different story.

Something is bothering me about this version, but I hope I´m wrong.

The production, choice of build up and added extra´s )repeats' don´t sound like the 87 output of Prince. Although the Hot Thing mixes kinda mess that remark up.

Could this be a fan or endorsed mix from the early-mid nineties. Kirky J was doing a lot of studio stuff back then although it misses some Kirky J flavors'

I'm still hoping to hear something to clarify exactly who did the remix and when myself. I've only listened a few times, and hadn't really questioned its validity--and I also didn't really think at all about Kirky J when I was listening--but it would be nice to have some hard provenance for this track. The Batdance history seems to be accounted for, but this one isn't.

This is not Prince. There is nothing about this that is Prince. The drums are horrible and the arrangment is horrible. Prince had nothing to do with this. How can I tell? Because I've listened carefully since 1981 to all his songs and this ain't one of them. It sucks.

Hot Thing was remixed by Shep Pettibone. I believe Shep Pettibone did some unreleased remixes for this song as well. This is probably one of them.

Nice to hear, but cheesy. I had the PR mix, ICNTTPOYM was more interesting for the layout than the actually mix, and Batdance was a cool mix of an average track.

Still, great that these things get out. Only thing is, as they sit with some collectors, they lose their impact and relevence.
