That he attempted to broker a deal with WB seems fairly clear. That the deal included his Master Recordings???? Where have you seen any evidence or mention of this issue? I think the deal fell thru because he wanted a flying car & WB just said no. | |

I remember back then rumors about P releasing 20ten Deluxe with Warner UK, and I can't remember if it was about the French release of Lotusflow3r or 20ten Deluxe but I remember P in an interview saying his issues were with WB US and that he had no problem working with WB Europe, so the fact that WB was at some point negociating doesn't necessarly mean that it included masters negociations because it could just be WB Europe. Im sure that over the past years, Prince had more then once contact with Warner Brothers concerning released and unreleased projects. Why? Wait for the 40 or 50 year anniversary? Most people that saw the movie when it came out will be busy with their lives. He has been playing a selection of those songs for ages but refuses to play certain others. Most outtakes from those days are known, so what can he add to make it interesting? The "Purple Rain" album & everything that came with it made Prince a superstar! Just like "Thriller" made Mj a superstar. Its the album that will always be a GOLDMINE in his catalog. Doesn't matter what he can add to it. It will always make a profit for him. Once he OWNS the master! will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"! Sure, but will simply remastering do the job of captivating that audience once again? That was why I was contemplating the outtakes and similar stuff. Also all the 12" materials of that era could be added to this small box set...

well he could add a lot to the purple rain reissue .. like some shelby yelling 'get on upa' and 'i can't hear u' .. maybe have some rap overdubs on the extended mixes .. and there are lots of lyrics to change .. maybe he is doing you a favor by not releasing deluxe pr because he may have already 'star wars special edition'ed his whole catalog and he is just waiting for the right time to rape your ears | |

Except for those of us that were around at the time (or the diehards he's picked up since), and for whom he'd have to do something special for us to buy it again (real remaster, added material, something!)--nope, not really. Relative goldmine, yeah--but everything anyone outside of the core fanbase wants is on the Very Best of. Sure, that's so much less than everyone probably should want, but in the real world, it's all almost anyone does want. And if he were to return to that album, I shudder to think what he (as the man he is now) might do to it.
The whole idea makes me have Star Wars nightmares.
I have way expect that something might happen to Lisa and Wendy's little "is the water warm enough" exchange that would make Greedo shooting first seem like a mild controversy.

He released the remixed "Dance4Me" 2 years after the original version from the half a million sold "LotusFlow3r"! So if we demand 2 hear 20T3NDeluxe! He may rerelease it. But Eye doubt if the fans will demand it. Since the majority hated on the original version so much.... will ALWAYS think of like a "ACT OF GOD"!
