So I just watched the Breakfast Can Wait video for about the 5th or 6th time, and while I think it's an interesting "dance" video, there's so much more that could have been done here which would have been "song appropriate".

I read the story on how Prince wanted it to be "big in the dance world" or whatever. But I just think the video has next to nothing to do with the song content, and is rather uninspiring.

No disrespect to the participants or the choreographer, but I just think Prince should have given us his own video with himself included.

Why not have Prince lying in bed and just waking up, but before he knows it, his lady is all set and ready to leave for work. He could be going from room to room looking for her, but she's downstairs after having prepared breakfast for him.

The whole video could center on him trying to get her back upstairs... pleading with her... and telling her that breakfast can wait!

He could even be singing to her as he pleads, talking about "You really put it on me... you shut it down last night. I thought the police were gonna come." And she could mouth "Was it loud?" And he'd sing back "Yeah, quite"... in a humorous way with a funny expression on his face.

I love the idea of him singing to her in a flirtatious way, while all the while, urging her to come back upstairs.

"Ain't no need to rush"...

He could even be coolin' in the kitchen while singing to her.

Or even the parts where he's like "You really put it on me... you shut it down last night..." There could be flashbacks of the love making the night before.

I just see this video release as a missed opportunity for Prince to use a WONDERFUL SONG and concept to reel us back in with humor, cleverness, and a sexy vid!

I love the song, and think Danielle Curiel did a nice job with a "dance" video, but the video didn't stay on the subject. Most of it had nothing to do with the song's content.

Come on Prince... give the fans what they want. You.

It's been said over and over, but yeah I agree with you. That sounds like a great music video.

I guess I'm late to the party. lol But I was watching the video again, and inspired to write.

This vid was more of a dance class project. :/

Certainly, in retrospect, the video could have been done any number of ways, as it stands, its a cute video and interpretation of the song.

The central theme is conveyed in the video--you just have to use your imagination. Frankly, I view the "dance sequence" as the love making piece -- its there without being overtly "sexual" which is.....pardon me....tasteful.

While some would like to "see" Prince in the video, he is there....Daniele is dressed as Prince, there's no mistaking who.

Is it his "best" video? Perhaps not. Is it a "bad" video? Not by a long shot. Folks should accept it for what it is and wait for the next which is sure to be delightful and entertaining.

No disrespect to Dave C, but I'm tired of seeing him.. & either I am getting old & memory is starting to fade, but on twitter/Youtube, I think I either listened to the song or watched the video, or both. Ok, I do remember the song, and after these few months of teasing, I was glad to finally find out what 'Breakfast Can Wait' was all about!! The song is (ole school Prince, imo). He caught me off guard with the lyrics. Thought he had toned the sexy down. Ok, but if I watched the video, I really do not remember it... So as I said, either it's me or the video just didn't grab me because I can't remember it. Now if Prince was in it, I'm sure I would. I just wonder why he isnt seen more?

I agree with the maturity thing. The characters were shallow and made the song feel shallow, immature and silly. I don't think that was P's intent. Or, maybe it was? I don't know.

Honestly? I watched it to check out the female lead, who's actually kinda cute. And because at least I get to hear the song. I didn't watch it for the choreography.

I was also trying to see if it bore any resemblance to the song content after the first minute or so. Which it really didn't.

To be honesty, I would have preferred NO video. It messes up the vision. It only served the performers, I guess. It definitely doesn't serve Prince.

I think I can speak for the majority of women here when I say we'd rather see the ARTIST HIMSELF (a live performance or something) than an 18 year old's ass.
