you gotta ge kidding me...Prince has proven over and over again he can handle himself as a one man band...until I read your post I never even knew Jimi played anything but guitar...are you gonna actually only credit P for his drum machine work/then understate him as an instrumentalist, then say he is One of the Greatest...i guess you are cuz ya just did but once again... oh okay...so who plays drums better Prince or Jimi...or...Neil Pert Obviously you have never heard Prince beating the drums on the Madhouse albums (particularly "8"), "The Family", "Tamborine" or "Crystal Ball" to name a few. Because to say that Jimi Hendrix was a better drummer "in a breeze" might be a slight underestimation of Prince's abilities in that area. Certainly when listening to some of the examples I've just mentioned. On the subject of who's a better guitarist, that would be like comparing apples and oranges (that's how good I think Prince is). I've seen Prince live many times since 1987 and I've seen him do stuff on the guitar which I didn't know he could do! So don't underestimate him. But let's not forget that there are guitarists out there who are so ridiculously good that they're in an entirely different universe altogether. Prince is probably my favourite guitarist but he is no match for someone like Steve Vai, who is another favourite of mine. Although when it comes to some fonkin', stinkin', greasy rhythm-guitar playing Prince could probably kick Steve's ass. mistermaxxx

anyone here that says that prince is a better guitarist than hendrix must not know ANYTHING AT ALL about hendrix. hendrix revolutionized the way the electric guitar was played (why do you think that people are STILL to this day studying his music?). the next person that came along to revolutionize guitar playing was eddie van halen. this is NOT OPINION, this is FACT.
prince is a GREAT guitar player. but in the grand scheme of things, he doesn't even have the dignity to smell one of hendrix's farts. plain and fucking simple. i think prince's legacy will probably be that he was a jack of all trades, BUT a master of no one particular instrument, and he'll also be remembered as a FANTASTIC songwriter. $.02. --gm-- i....feel.... cold as a razorblade, tight as a tourniquet, dry as a funeral drum......

[This message was edited Tue Mar 18 13:04:17 PST 2003 by pejman] With the exception of saxaphone and flute Prince played everything himself (including drums) on Madhouse 8. On "16" he played everything on some of the tracks, Sheila E. played drums on the others (source:"DanceMusicSexRomance").
